The scary thing is, if a new guy comes in and results take a turn for the worse, we could quite quickly find ourselves back in the relegation mix. We just might have stumbled upon a management team that works. That shouldn't be a reason to ditch them because it's cheap. We could still bring in the experienced support and structure as well.

When Stuart failed again, I was absolutely distraught but thought there must be young unknowns like Chris Beech out there who can go on and prove themselves, after all we turned down Martin O'Neill because of his lack of experience. Also, I'm old enough to remember Hartlepool being castrated when they set on a young manager whose self opinion meant he was trouble. The guy did well at Hartlepool, then Derby, was bombed out at Leeds as the players didn't want him but who fared better? Leeds or a following club, Forest? His ego however meant that he was absolutely a no no to be national manager, the bounder. We have had such an amazing turn around, our youngsters(the caretakers) deserve longer to show what they are capable of.

Interesting point. So if we can get a management team (say T&S) in that costs less than a "named team" would that not free up more money to do the other things that you mention to support them?

Not always the case is it?

When you hire inexperience the cost can be more in different ways.

Well yes it would on a normal playing field. None of us know for sure what Rupp is thinking. I support a move away from the past failures. if that is PH or MT and CS I don't really care (although MT has been miraculous). A fresh vision and strategy is all I ask.

    Bowyer - Wrong Manager
    Grayson - Wrong Manager.

    Rhodes - Wrong CEO.

    Edin - Wrong Owner
    Rupp - Wrong Owner.

    - The problem is that the set up at the club is WRONG! Make WRONG decisions! Which leads to WRONG outcomes!

Sparks taking his time is right. It's a decision he can't get WRONG!!

These boys have done brilliant and I don’t envy Ryan’s decision. But we are measuring T and S against Stuart’s poor results and performances. The big picture is not just improving confidence and form, it’s getting into League One. T and S have exceeded expectations but we have to decide between a manager who has won a promotion against a couple of coaches who have picked up a confused and demoralised squad playing with their heads down. As good as each result and particularly the performances has been it’s been it’s only over 4 games and each game has been settled by one goal which means it could have gone either way. Ryan is almost damned which ever way he goes unless he does n’t really fancy who came out on top of his shortlist. Good luck Ryan.

    He could be.

You know what Sparks will earn more credit if he goes for a man that's already in employment. A man he really wants.

Believe it or not I back Sparks in any decision he makes on this one.

We have had the rub of the green today, our keeper has done brilliantly. We grew into the game but it could have ended differently. I can’t help think people are (albeit understandably) getting carried away and a bit obsessed with what our caretakers have achieved and the blinkers are back on.

What's the latest from your leaking tap Tyneside, still adamant that Hurst signed a few days ago?

Reading between the drips, I think they might be hinting at Hurst with Trueman as assistant.

    Talk about struggling!!

What next? Hurst has been the tea boy for the last few weeks and giving the players lunch team talks.

Why would either party agree to that? Trueman is a manager and surely Hurst would want his trusted man to come in with him. I sincerely hope we're not forcing an assistant on a manager like we did with Dury and Bowyer.

If that happens I will want Sparks to resign straight away.

We can't go down that road again. If it's Hurst he has to bring in his own team. If it's Trueman then he has to bring in his own team. If it's Santa he has to bring in his own team.

The tap understandably stopped leaking over Christmas and I’m not the pestering type so just left it. Out of nowhere started to drip again last night.

Came at a good time as the kids were in bed and my wife was watching ‘The Holiday’ which had me bored to tears.
