New CEO?

I would happily pay £350 for a ST in the Championship. That would mean we are a club on the up and had a half decent team. Potentially some local derbies Yorkshire+North East+Lancashire and decent crowds. That's £15 a game and in league 2 if you attend an away game you pay more than that on average.

That is all a pipe dream right now but I would love us to be managed by SM into the championship.

Don't know how credible the recent new CEO rumour is but that could be the catalyst for a period of growth, investment and development of the squad.

 

??? My point is I do not believe that Rupp is asking £10m for the club.

Exactly - if true. That was before covid, which may be a game changer for him.

The thing is he is pals with McCall, so I kinda think he could be right. Something is definitely going on because it's not the first time I've heard this rumour.

 

If there is something in it, could that be the reason why our transfer activity has been so limited?

Anyone can start a rumour. Nixon does it often and mostly BS.

 

Why would he make up such a random rumour about Bradford? He's obviously been told something and that terrible lie from the club to Parker makes me think it's true.

 

Yes they have a modern stadium and are going pretty cheaply but they dont have a large fanbase and never really will, they also don't really have potential for a large fanbase.

I know it's a long time ago but prior to our visit to the top flight we were getting good crowds at the going rate.
I know we have been spoiled but we can realistically expect 18-20 thousand crowds every game in the championship at average prices, all we need is a little success to spark it again.
If we see some success and incrementally increase the prices over the next couple of seasons then it is achievable.

 

Huw Jenkins bid £1M for Charlton A few months ago, so he is obviously keen to get back into football.

I would imagine he would be a very good CEO, if not outright owner.

He’s clearly looking to get back involved, and seems to want the challenge of growing something. I seriously want this to happen - but it seems too promising to be true.

 

Like many have said this rumour has been known about for months. He parked it and pulled it out to make out he knows something.

He isn't a credible source mate.

 

On a financial level we probably don't bring as much in crowd wise as Wigan do, nice to have bums on seats but relatively speaking it makes little difference what happens on the pitch. Potential is what the club can achieve on the balance sheet and on the pitch. It's exactly what you say in your last paragraph, those big crowd numbers need tapping for more season ticket money.

 

Added to which, the revenue that can be unlocked through other streams, with more fans. You can charge more for sponsorship. I can’t remember the last time I spent any money inside VP - put on some decent food and drink, and there’s money to be had beyond the lazy outsourcing contracts we have now.

We did, you’re right. But Jenkins is much more of a known entity, with a proven record.
