Thomas Hitzlsperger, can’t find any mention online though I’m sure (going back a long time) the T&A did a piece on things/deals that fell through after admin and he was mentioned.

 

I think it was Winston Bogarde that Geoff laughed off signing at the start of the disaster season - for wages similar to those he eventually signed Carbone for.

Obviously he wasn't an oversight, but if Geoff knew at that point such wages were ludicrous, why pay them for a forward?

I genuinely think he boggled his own mind with ambition and greed. For all his strengths, the weaknesses that were eventually exposed were absolutely ruinous.

Funnily enough I sat next to Denis Law at a Sportsmans Lunch in the 90's that the company I worked for had sponsored and we talked about Bradford City but he never mentioned the signing story.

During The conversation I had with Archie Christie He said we were after an experienced midfielder from town who’s name I have forgotten and we were in conversation with Donaldson but his wife wanted to be based in London that’s as far as I know
