Maine hotels are offering free beds to nhs staff to stay in between shifts so if their family get infected they don’t have to isolate for 14 days. Obviously if they do get symptoms themself they have to isolate.

another ‘planned’ use for hotels is as over flow for hospitals. So people less ill, none Corona would be moved there rather than taking up a normal bed in BRI

just spoken to my SIL who works in the care industry, one of her colleagues has had a person from a home collapse so they called an ambulance. Taken to hospital diagnosed with CV19 and pneumonia and then Returned to the home whilst being told the ambulance will not prioritise any more calls for them due to the pneumonia as they are not expected to survive.
Now that really brought it home to me

Find it baffling there is still no travel ban in the UK. Still just advised not to

    Mate, so do I.

I can't believe we are allowing people to leave and come back still.

Some people are stupid too. They think it applies to other people but not themselves. My father in law walked up to the Asda at Bierley for his paper but there was a big queue so he hopped on the bus to town. Needed his tv section. :eyes:

I think a lot of people of that generation are very proud and hate having their independence taken away from them. A lot of elderly people are doing stupid things for these very reasons even though they are aware of the dangers. I'd imagine your father in law falls into that category.

Government announcement today - social restrictions to be in place for at least 3-6 months. Could be longer. Expecting a restart of the season in may or june seems optimistic.

What happened to reviewing it after 3 weeks?

People will start to lose their homes, get massively in debt, go out of their minds. They need to fix the money problems quickly or there'll be a tsunami of shit coming. A really quick and effective way would be a universal basic income until this goes away.

Mate, it's nor going to be for sport.

It will be in places in offices and social live.

What we can see our friends or girlfriend or midget etc for 3-6 months. Don't be silly.

There's still a review after the first 3 weeks. But the answer above was given in response to questions around 'when are we likely to get back to something like normal'

I'm just reporting what the government has said. If you think there'll an exemption for sport- there wont be. Man City have already said they'll only play once the wider country is back to something like normal.

100% ..Self employed might as well close their business.

Surely a review after 3 weeks make sense unless Boris was lying to us.

Man City are saying that because of the CL situation.

    Their own agenda

    You twisting?

She didn't say there would be a six month lockdown. After the levelling off itll be a pretty fluid situation, reviewed every couple of weeks and our daily routines will be determined by the pattern.

Also there are different forms of social distancing. We are in the strict phase at the moment. That could be relaxed to less strict forms of social distancing so 3-6 months could be on different rules than currently.

No, I apologise. It seems that front line workers with underlying health issues do indeed get an auto 3 month sick note.

But isn't that correct? Should he/she be rushed to hospital to tie up money & time in ICU and then die anyway. Loads of people go into hopsital as "end of life" patients in normal times, only to be kept alive a bit longer, it's bonkers.

Huh? I didn't say they reported a 6 month lockdown. I/they said 'social restrictions' were expected for 3-6 months. Possibly longer.

Football was stopped before 'lockdown', not after. Unless theres reasonable freedom of movement, football wont restart.

It won't be long before the health cost of the reaction outweighs the virus deaths, that's ignoring the huge economic consequences. Yet every journalist who dares to raise this taboo subject finds their online comment facility deleted pdq as the pitchforks are raised and the torches lit.

Hopefully lessons will be learned from what I expect to end up as a total fiasco. Drones targetting dog walkers, the police force pouring dye in pond, normal (not ill) old people dying and spending their last days in solitary confinement instead of with their family...........
