I thought it was a strange signing at the time. No idea who scouted him and thought it a good idea to sign him

Unfortunately for them, David Parkhouse and Dan Kemp look shocking as well.

Connolly is a bit shit. Palmer was a bit shit. Guthrie is an abomination. What the hell were we thinking? And we paid a fee!!!

 

Connolly did at last get a decent cross in last night. Unfortunately it was the shortest man on the pitch charging into the area, but the cross was excellent. I do think he is pretty good impact player for us

 

Written off after one game and, I assume, very little knowledge of his past. Brilliant - what a boat load of confidence that must do for any new face to our club.

If any player reads these forums I doubt why anyone would want to come here. Fortunately they either don’t or have the sense to look beyond and hopefully know it’s not a reflection of all City supporters.

Fair enough, everyone is entitled to an opinion and last night he wasn’t amazing.........and neither were his other 9 outfield team mates, certainly in the first half.

 

Imagine writing off a player after under 90 minutes of football.

Thought he had an alright second half personally. Was thinking Kai Brunker v2 after the first.

 

And that makes him ok does it? 15 league games and no goals for Brunker. If Guthrie matches that, then he’s been a total waste of a shirt. Nice to see you set your standards high

Some players need more time to settle than others, It is a huge move from the deep south to the bleak north, Agree he looked out of touch last night but give the lad a bit of time and more games before judging,

 

I'd worry about the mental resilience of any professional footballer who bases his choice on whether to sign for a club, on content of an internet fans forum.

Of course, no player can be fully judged after 1 and a bit games of football. But the point is, it was a very strange and underwhelming signing on the face of it, and the early signs have done nothing to dispel that idea.

 

He did score 16/goals last season in a poor side. He didn’t look good last night against their three centre halves but he obviously knows where the goal is
