If Drury stays then only half a job done and the animosity goes on......

Well then why wouldn't they say that. End of the statement "Martin Drury will be taking training in the run-up to our game on Saturday until an appointment has been made".

    Instead they'd declined to comment...

Good point! No idea, but what I do know JR would not leave him in post.

They are finding out how quickly he can pour a beer and if he can flip a burger at the same time. Give him a trial day this Saturday and the jobs his.

Is there a need to be so spiteful?

Whislt I'm comfortable with him going, it now depends totally on who comes in. This happened two seasons ago, exactly the same time after the same away defeat and look how that season faded away

Are you now suddenly trusting the board to employ, who you see is the right person?

On balance I think it's a good decision - surely any reaction from the players can only be positive

Maybe just leaving that decision to the new manager?

Agree. Your line there would have been much more sensible and less intriguing!

I do think circumstances are fundamentally different this time though, yes the board need to make the correct appointment but there isn't (I don't believe) the same poisonous or underlying issues which will hinder the performance going forward.

Make no mistake, we are where we are because of Bowyer's tactics - yes the league positions and results are pretty much identical but there just isn't the feeling that our squad has been out performing it's abilities like there was under McCall. Time will tell but I personally believe that there is a hell of a lot more to come from this bunch of players.

Have to admit, there's a lot wrong if a manager can't get some chances created with Devitt, Middleton, Cooke, Connolly, Prichard or Ismail on your books

Fair enough, Warnock or at the very least a plan would do for me.

As bad as mccall first time round, no experience.

We're in with a chance of a playoff place. Or better. One thing is 100% certain, is these players need a kick up the arse. Far too many have been taking the piss..

Having thought the problem to be with GB for some time,I'm excited to see what can be achieved with the present group of players. Surely we will see a more positive approach. Pleased that Julian has made the decision and it will interesting how he views the next critical appointments. Sorry for GB but even he was aware of his own failings and I hope he finds a more suitable challenge..but I am grateful for this welcome breath of fresh air. UTB.

The cynic in me says they left it until after window so new guy didn’t get ideas about keeping Doyle and spending money on bringing his own players in. Any new man would have wanted Doyle to stay.

Whoever comes in now has a much better platform to build from than GB did.

You have to give GB some credit for the way he galvanised the club and seemed to have brought everyone together after last seasons debacle.

I actually like the guy but his football tactics have been proven to be stone age and easy to work out and counter.

We need a completely new backroom staff to finally get rid of any lingering stench from the ER era.

Leeds fans said he was massively negative in his approach. Could be a like for like which would be a disaster.

    Interesting theory.

Or it could have been that we were absolutely battered by an average Oldham team on the back of other random batterings from teams WE should have been battering.
