Give him a chance again as with motley Henry he’s failed before he’s kicked a ball for us . Hope none of the player read this winge fest

 

Just don’t think it’s the disaster the usual suspects are portraying this transfer window. Forget Doyle we haven’t had him most of the season and when he came back he was asking everyone with the exception of Santa to leave every day. So in effect we’ve replaced Vaughan with Novak which may be ok and replaced Oteh who few rated with the Stevenage lad. Don’t tell me people are shedding tears because Patrick and Palmer have left.

 

You should be a political spin doctor. That actually made me feel a bit better.

Absolutely spot on.

Seems a few bad apples have been let go and a few others who are not performing well enough.

Lets just see if the new lads can make a noticeable positive difference.

 

The best chance we had of achieving promotion was to start creating more chances and scoring more goals, in which two goal scorers- Vaughan and Doyle- gave us our best chance of doing. Fair enough, replacing them with 2 lump, non scoring forward will make Bowyer’s ineffective tactics slightly more effective (which I think is the point you’re trying to make) but its still an ineffective tactic that is unlikely to result in success.

What we needed to do was keep our goal scorers (or replace them with similar strikers if circumstances dictated so) and recruit a creative midfielder or 2 to give them some service. Instead, we catered for Bowyer’s inability to play football and you think that’s a good thing? It’ll make the hoof more successful granted but hoof is and never will be the answer. Vaughan and Doyle weren’t pulling up any trees, but they still gave us our best chance of achieving anything this season.

 

An international signing was made. Just waiting for clearance.

He only started being omitted from the team when Graham Westley became their manager. I can't pretend to know anything about Guthrie, but not being picked by Westley probably counts as a plus.

 

Yer, he didn't fancy him. Part of where the whole 'is it his attitude in general or his displeasure at the situation' debate comes up with a couple of my mates.

 

Whatever thoughts on manager fact is he wasnt able to get into a team bottom of table.

Yes and no. Factually correct but its kinda like saying Longridge or McCartan is probably a better example couldn't get in our team. Westley came in and didn't fancy him. Samson (former England woman's manager) was in before him and God knows what he was coaching them but it wasn't good.

 

I have no idea how he will turn out so I am reserving judgement one way or the other until I have seen him play in our team. None of us knows much about him. What I do know is that Graham Westley is a useless manager and by all accounts an insufferable person, so I don't think we should decide whether or not Guthrie is a good player based on Westley not picking him.

 

Can he play today?.

He scored 16 last season sounds decent to me

 

He's their top scorer this season with 5, which sounds like the Stevenage strikers are suffering with the same lack of service this season as our forwards have been doing. He's supposedly a bit of a 'mardy arse' - possibly because he is frustrated in the same way Vaughan and Doyle have been frustrated here. Let's just hope the way we play and the way Guthrie plays marry up well together and achieves results.

 

I've just watched the goals he scored for Colchester and 6 were decent headers and he also scored some great goals from outside the box.

 

Wonder where we heard that before .
