You might be right but then again you might be right. He talked about the window and he's right. A bid for any player could come in last minute. Man City could offer 300m for Messi in the last hour of the window.

Doing deals last minute are extremely risky for a selling club because the replacement has to be one that pleases the fans.

We've a game tomorrow, game on Tuesday- now if we lose both, then sell Doyle to you all then lose on the Saturday I would say the chants of "we want Bowyer out" or "we want Rupp out" will firm start! Think if we win the next 2 and you offer serious money like 200k and we have a name that fans will be happy with a replacement we could do business.

However, I don't believe you all have the money.. set of game players!

Now a days clubs ask for money up front.

The Bruno deal for Utd sporting want 47m up front. It's the norm now

Way wait 4 years for 200k? I wouldn't trust any club to be in business outside the PL in 4 years.

If Rhodes want me to take over negotiations then I will for a fee but he should get 200k up front no problem! If he can't do that when they're so bloody desperate then another reason why he has to go.

Agreed but then why describe his performances as "great"?

If someone is out of form and playing poorly just say so.

    Well, glad we established that!

I can't work you out Fordy. Earlier in the thread, you said we should stop playing the 'poor card' and pay up for Doyle. Now you don't seem to think we have the cash. So which one is it?

    Makes you think doesn't it.

If a player is playing bad just say.. why wouldn't a fair do that?

Because I thought coming back after all that time he was great. I know in the last couple of weeks it has tailed off but from what he has comeback from overall he has done great

Your fellow fan seems to think you lot will have a cash injection and money rolling in next week.

To be honest all I know is that you're all desperate and Bradford City need to stand their ground.

Set of game players and with game players you can't get mugged off.. need to stand your ground. Fee - 200k upfront or bye. I would like to think this is the case.

Still not understanding the great. Reeves hasn't be great.

No assists, no goals and about 2 shots at goal, pulling out of 50/50's

    How do you see greatness?

Whereas as somebody that's hopeful Doyle will return to Swindon, I struggle to see how people can read that into his comments.

    It's a funny old game.

Either Doyle or Bowyer need to go, don’t care which one but it’s pointless having them both in the same building.

Is it nearly February, this is beyond tedious.

My 2ps worth. I think Doyle will stay. I think he'll see out his contract here and then after that be looking for the most profitable deal, the last big pay day. That's unlikely to be something either us or swindon are likely to be able to offer him, it'll likely be a top end league 1 team.

I think any city fans arguing a case for not recalling him are wrong in their heads. Why the heck would you not recall a player in such good form.

And Swindon fans saying he'll do nothing for you are deluded. He was never going to keep on this run swapping back to city and adjusting etc but he's offering a lot more than we had before and therefore is improving our team. I sympathise to a degree with your situation but you can't play the poor card and expect to keep your promotion rivals most in form player. This is the risk of loans they're not your players no matter how well they do.

Maybe Wellens would be better moving to a club who have the financial means to support him.

I must be one of those who are wrong in their heads then! :)

I rate Doyle as a striker at our level and we know he can be lethal in the penalty area so long as he is provided with the right kind of service. You only have to look at the vid which somebody posted on here to see how good he is at finishing, how he anticipates where the ball should be going and where the action takes place. We all know he was very successful at Swindon and had a great spell at Oldham at the end of their relegation season. And the common factor is Wellens and his particular approach to playing football.

For better or worse, we play a different style of football which I'd be the first to admit can be successful. It's a safety first approach which seems to be embedded in the manager. We're in a very good position in the league but that's been built on a philosophy of not wanting to lose and whilst some of the results have been encouraging, the style of play and some of the performances have been as boring as hell. I still struggle to think of a game (win or lose) where I have left VP having been buoyed up with our performance. Bowyer's approach might be successful come the end of the season but in the meantime, we're going to have to put up with more of the same. Will Doyle make a difference to that? Not in my view unless there is a major change in Bowyer's thinking. He won't be the prolific scorer he was at Swindon and Oldham. He's a good footballer all the same as he showed last weekend when playing deeper with those two great passes to Vaughan and Akpan. And yes, he could continue to play in that kind of role but it's not playing to his strengths. There are others who should be providing the service to him as he provided to Vaughan and Akpan and it's Doyle who should be the one buzing around the penalty area where he's at his most dangerous.

At Swindon, Doyle scored 23 in 22 games this season. The same player at VP this season has managed 0 goals in 5 appearances for us. That's very telling. I obviously don't know for sure either way but it wouldn't surprise me one jot to see him back at Swindon within the week.

Of the two possible scenarios of Doyle remaining with us for the rest of the season or returning to Swindon, right now I'd say the second option makes more sense. He's on high wages of which we are paying the full wack, he's out of contract in the summer and currently, does not look like he is going to score for us in a month of Sundays. If we can get him off the wage bill and pocket a decent fee for him as well, (and the rumoured 100 grand would be a good fee for a league 2 player with less than 6 months left of his contract that isn't producing the goods for us), then I'd take that all day long. Having said that, my opinion might change depending on what happens today. Now that Pritchard and Devitt are back from injury, there should be ample opportunities created for him. If that happens and Doyle is able to capitalise, the prospect of him staying starts to look more appealing. But if that doesn't happen, either through Bowyer not playing them or through Doyle not putting away the chances created for him, then I think those arguing he needs to stay have to accept that it isn't the best option for us.

Can we send Palmer back? All this talk of how Reeves is bad, when Palmer is much worse. Totally anonymous. If someone were to ask me what were his strengths, and what key moments stick out, I’d be at a loss.
