Personally I think Doyle would be daft to sign for Swindon now ?. With his "stock" at its highest he could do a darn sight better as a free agent in the summer ! Would have his pick of Lge1 and possibly a few Champ clubs. If City cannot see the value in calling back their own asset who happens to be English footballs "golden boot" then its complete madness ?

Its a watershed moment for Rupp and Rhodes lets see if they know how to really protect the interests of Bradford City on this ? If they make the wrong decision then Rhodes for one and Rupp two ; may as well clear their desks now.

    Why isn't it easy?

We have a recall option in the loan agreement; we simply exercise that option and the following day, Doyle is back at VP taking instructions from Bowyer and Drury. It doesn't require Swindon's agreement; it doesn't require Doyle's agreement; it doesn't even require a poster on BT's agreement. It really is simple if we really want him back.

Perhaps they want to discuss things with Doyle before recalling him.

I was a critique of Doyle last season, but we have to take him away from Swindon with them being a promotion rival. Simple as that!

    As posted yesterday:

Ok, Bradford City are not foolish enough to do a deal the same week as we play them.

As for what is to discuss? Loads

    1) Do we recall him
    2) When do we recall him
    3) Can Swindon afford to pay all his wages
    4) Can Swindon afford to buy him
    5) Even though he can't play for anyone else this season barring Swindon and Bradford does any other club want to buy him now then loan him back.
    6) Doyle comes back we go up automatically
    7) Do we do what Sheff Utd did to us with Hanson and weaken Swindon by taking him back.
    8) Do we take Yates from Rotherham and take Doyle back.
9} Do we look like mugs if we sell him now
    10) The long term future of the club and its outlook
11The manager and player power. Talking with Doyle himself.

Not so sure about that. There are 2 other auto spots, and what's to say that Swindon won't take the £3k per week saving on Doyle and find someone else? That someone else doesn't have to be as directly prolific as Doyle - maybe they'll get a few and open up chances for others?

The reality is, if there's a £100K fee and all of Doyle's wage being picked by Swindon, on the table, I'd fully expect us to take that deal (whether we should or not). We've seen how Bowyer thinks Doyle should be used.

You're missing the point. Some of these are genuine issues which need to be discussed within the club whilst others are irrelevant statements and not issues at all. But the most recent debate starts from the premis that those relevant issues have been agreed upon and the decision is for Doyle to be recalled. Once we have decided to recall him, it really is easy-peasy to do it.

Personally, I'm not interested in him being recalled. But if the club decides it's in our best interests for him to return, it's done with no further discussions required with Swindon, Doyle or anybody else for that matter.

We were never ever going to recall him the week we play Swindon either way.

Due to his form at Swindon then Swindon were always going to want him back but Bradford are in a prime position and can say can you afford x as we want x for him or he is coming back.

You've to remember Swindon play the poor card and we might need them to prove they've the funds then go from there.

No, point being miss at all.. both clubs would of agreed in the summer that it would be after the game at Swindon a recall would happen if it's going too.

Bradford might have other clubs wanting Doyle now.

I wouldn't rule it out to be honest. The best goalscorer in Europe on a free, he's played at that level before (albeit never being prolific) and at 31 is still a good age. I'd expect him to probably end up in league 1 but if he carries on at this rate, 1 or 2 champ teams would take a punt

    Still a good age?

Back end of his career, can only play one style of football, nowhere near as athletic as the defenders at Championship level, I think we can safely say any move to that level is unlikely, if it did happen id give it zero hope of working out.

Just a note on that --- what Wellens says what is happening and what is really happening are often quite different.
Then it's by no means black and white. You admit yourself that there's plenty to discuss over whether or not he is recalled. According to Wellens, Swindon are also involved in trying to 'get something done'. I don't know how true that is, but if it is true, it would have to be discussions about him remaining at Swindon.

As others keep pointing out, if it was already agreed that he is returning to Bradford then there's no further discussions to be had. That there are discussions (or so we are told) clearly means that no decision has been made either way.

it is, BUT, I think somebody has talked money from your side, and no player is indispensable. So we are listening to see if they can come up with the right amount. However, my view is we are not a charity and even if he ends up sitting on the bench we should not gift you an auto slot.

Not disagreeing, but clubs panic. If he keeps himself fit, he will have a lot of offers.

No, it wouldn't of been agreed it's returning as I stated we were not going to recall him this week.

Swindon were always going to want him after him scoring about 65% of there goals but that comes at a high price and the loan agreement won't suit Bradford now.

So Swindon will be getting the begging bowl out and begging and begging but Bradford can just wait until next week and if you hit the magic number then fine but everything is pointing to him returning because Swindon are top and Bradford desperately have to go up this season and we need the leading goalscorer in the country to help us achieve that.

Our local press seems to think he's coming back and trust me he doesn't do digging. He's a mouthpiece of the club.

Wellens himself seems to be hinting he's coming back to us.

Those are all valid points if you are thinking about NOT bringing him back. You seem convinced he IS coming back so why the need for ‘discussions’.

    1. You can recall him if you want
    2. You have a few days after the game to decide one way or another
3 and 4. Only if he is NOT coming back
    5. More chance of me being nominated ‘Rear of the Year’
    6. Really?
    7. Can do. But again that wouldn’t require any discussions.
    8. Confirmed Yates is seeing out his season long loan with us. Grant being made perm.
    9. I doubt that is in anyone’s mind
    10. Again, can’t see how this has any effect on your club ongoing
    11. Player power usually wins out.

Do people forget we had Doyle the whole of last season? We would have to change managers and some players to accommodate his playing style as Bowyer is clearly a defensive manager. Recall him only to derail Swindon, that is if their price doesn't match our valuation.

Fordy, I have no feelings for BCFC good or bad. You however are a prize plum!
Firstly I would love it if we, Swindon Town held on to Doyle but at the same time would lose no sleep if he went back to VP. He has served us well but ultimately isn't our striker.
If he does return I hope he fails to score once for you, because you Fordy are a piece of work. You disregard your own fans opinions, offer so much business advice on how you should conduct affairs at VP as if no on one else has any idea.
You may have your own business but you don't seem to be pulling up trees unless that is you're a dragon on BBC 2! In a nutshell, good luck Bradford but as for you Fordy you are something else!!

No need for abuse, tbf. We’re guests on here. Fordy is entitled to his opinion as we are.

Be bloody glad when this soap opera has run its course.
