I was not surprised that Akpan was subbed. In fact I was expecting it. A few minutes earlier he had made a very half hearted attempt at a tackle on the edge of our box. This reminded me of his similar behaviour some weeks ago which led to our conceding a goal, losing the match and his being dropped for several matches. The commentators said nothing about this so unless you were watching the match you may be unaware of it. I also thought Akpan looked slow and ponderous higher up the field. I assume Bowyer gave instructions to Devine to get close to their midfielder who was bossing the park - easier sad than does.

Circumstances slightly different and McCall had been in the job longer, but it was a rash and cruel decision at the time and looks worse in retrospect.

See that's one of Bowyer's major problems. We are losing the game and he's still worried about their midfielder.

Devine offers nothing. Akpan like him or not is more likely to score.

No he isn't!! Apart from the 2 goals he's scored this season (1 more than Devine) he never ever looks like scoring. Lets be honest neither look like creating much or scoring.

I was surprised that Reeves didn't come on instead of Devine going on, if you want someone to create he'd be the better option. (I know what your reply will be to that comment Fordy already :p)

Before Akpan got two in two he’s was everyone’s idea of useless. The first he almost missed? The second was a good goal but to me he’s pretty much the same old Akpan, Poor work rate and not punching his weight.

Been like that for 18 months. it seems now he looks like some sort of offensive goal scorer midfielder!!! Give me a break, he's done nothing to prove he's changed.

Yes he lives over the river from us in Cornwall, if he is not working for the sports media on Saturdays he will be at Home Park. As a ex manager of Argyle he did very little in loaning out any players to help us out.
On the game, I told you the pitch would be alright, they even had the sprinklers on before kick off. Good result for us, should have been five up in the first half. Change of formation by your manager in second half took some time to reacted to. Both teams came close to score in this half. 9,600 around(350 away fans). I reckon we will bring over 1,000 in the return game. Best of luck for the rest of the season.

I was watching it, for my sins, and believe me Akpan was playing fine, and had much more of an impact on the game than his replacement. In fact it was Akpan who actually kept a cool head on the build up to our goal, and laid the ball off instead of taking a pop at goal. Quick thinking move and got us briefly back into the game. Divine is a woeful player and should be plying his trade in the National League North because he is not up to regular professional football imo from what i've seen of him in the time he's been with us. He's had more than enough opportunity and it is clear as day to see that he struggles

There was talk of Neil Warnock being the manager at Bradford City when Richmond bought the club until Lennie Lawrence was hired.

I too was watching the game, very surprised when Akpan was taken off he looked a threat going forward whereas Devine when he came on was for much of the game fairly anonymous.

My summing up of the game apart from the two defensive slips on our part there was little between the two teams.

Akpan was poor, but no more so than most of the team.
Both full backs were beaten at will, O'Connor did reasonably well, BRE was terrible with the ball and almost cost us a 3rd goal.
All our midfield were crap (technical term), none of them could find a pass and lost most tackles.
As soon as Plymouth won the ball it was played up the pitch with accuracy to willing runners.
Oteh was anonymous, only Vaughan looked up for it as he ran himself to a standstill and he looked as frustrated as me at the end.
A game crying out for Reeves, if it hadn't worked so be it, but I didn't travel all that way and spend £500 for a half arsed performance like that.

Other than the debacle of the second goal, I thought O'Donnell did reasonably well, with a couple of good blocks.

I know this is a bit off subject. Have been a bit fed up about City for the last week in particular.
So if anyone needs cheering up try watching our 3-2 win at Everton in 97 like i just did, got me smiling again, a wonderful reminder how good it can be be been a City supporter, the talent we had in our team that day topped off by two superb goals by Waddle and Steiner was very memorable, and with a special mention for the brilliant commentator!
Anyway back to been gloomy again:-(

Maybe I didn't see it very well but he appears to juggle the first one

Thought I was on Corn Dolly bus to Accrington last year then? My youngest is 12 so never seen it but loved watching it...couldn't get over how poor the quality of the picture was though!!!
