Home vs Port Vale 22nd October

We haven't. Lacklustre, second to second balls, no grip of the game in midfield. It's basically back to the early season games and again it's because weve lost the bit of quality we had in central midfield.

 

Vaughan needs support but I cant see 442 working atm

Devine has been worse in my opinion. But let's be honest, it's been littered with poor performances. Cooke has probably been our best and even hes only been 6/10. I get that we have injuries, but we need more intensity. Bowyer needs to be telling them that if they want automatic promotion, it's based on finding a way to win games like this.

 

Without doubt Port Vale were worth their one goal lead, Id have been annoyed if that pen had been given the other way didn't see a lot wrong with it, but its got us back in the game.
Lets hope we play as well as Vale did the first half, the games there to be won.

Can we even count Reeves now? Don’t wanna bang on about it yet again, but the “situation” is ridiculous. You haven’t even mentioned Robinson among that lot.

 

Yes, this sounds spot on.

No Palmer, Devitt, Pritchard, Connolly is crippling us and our ability to play.

 

If we assume they are being paid then we should include them because we're paying for someone who's not playing which means we can't use the money elsewhere.

I'm not making this statement because I'm unhappy with them or whatever, folk get injured or whatever, it is what it is and its more matter of fact!

 

Would like to see Wood take a few set pieces. Cooke’s delivery has been ok but Wood has a great delivery so I’d let him take a few corners/free kicks.

 

Oteh needs to come off for Shay. Doing nothing.

Call a spade a spade, Vaughan has barely had a decent game. We’re severely lacking Donaldson, Connolly and Pritchard. Vaughan’s suspension changed nothing.

 

Be nice to have a goal scoring striker right now

 

Just one of those days. The majority of games like that we would win. We dominated 2nd half and had a few good chances to score. It’s a lesson to stop giving away soft goals though, both their goals were poor from a defensive perspective. However, given the number of injuries we have in midfield it’s always going to be tough.

 

No sub in 90mins, what do you expect? We just lost to an awful, absolutely abysmal side. I only ever want to see Mellor play right back in an unimportant cup game, Henley is twice the defender he is. He just looks so uncomfortable on the ball.

Then we finally make a sub when they score. Just a toothless performance, a home game and we're 2nd in the league, they are low end table fodder, we should be thrashing these teams.

 

Can't remember the last time a ball was threaded through from midfield for the striker to run onto. Vaughan spends his time with his back to goal, usually ending up on the deck. Oteh is not a striker - his running today was terrible. With Cooke in the team, this is the sort of forward we should have.
