Am I the only one who thought Akpan was gash again today?

Sloppy passing and lazy. Apart from his goal what did he do?

 

The harshest criticism I have probably read about a City player. Mellor was rarely troubled, won his fair share of headers when Swindon tried to put us under pressure at the end. He was at least a 7 from me

 

Yes you are blinkered. Credit where it is due, he deserved his standing ovation when substituted. Best display Ive seen from him. Complimented Cooke well today. Lets hope it wasnt a flash in the akpan, and can cement his place in the team in the absense of Palmer

 

You're both wrong. He was a 5. Not too bad defensively, but ropey on the ball.

 

Usual positive comments from Mr Ford, we won the game against a team who had not lost away all season and you still find something to bitch about, lets savor a good win (could have been by more) and move onto Morceambe, no need to start saying certain players were bab over all it was a good day at the office.

I sit in the Midland Road so I'm surprised I missed it too. How many goalscoring chances came from all this attacking down the left hand side? Did I miss those too?

 

Yeah, I have no problem with Mellor at all. I like his presence in the back 4, and find criticism of him baffling to say the least.

Not as easy on the eye as our other full back Wood perhaps, but solid enough defending

I never said there were many goal scoring chances just they preferred to attack down their left side.

 

You clearly want to forget his inability to man mark at corners. Generally he has been OK this season but today he was gash IMHO. I have praised him in other threads but today he was well below par.

 

Just seen the highlights. There goal looked like a slip by a Bradford player left him free but was he offside? He did look a fair few yards ahead of the ball but may be the camera angle

 

That was their centre forward, so surely that was one of the centre backs jobs, stop inventing faults

 

I think he was not given offside was because the ball was going wide down the main stand side and he would not be deemed playing the ball.
well have to wait for Dmitry's vidio of the game to see if the lino made the correct call for Donaldson's goal.

 

So if they attacked down that side and Mellor was "gash" as you do eloquently put it, how come they didn't carve out a single goal scoring chance?

He was dire last week, his passing game has fallen apart.

 

Did he make a mistake that presented a goal scoring opportunity?..did he get skinned by the player he was marking?.did he give the ball away?. I cannot recall any, so think the 3 is ridiculous and the 5 harsh.
All about opinions of course, but Mellor deserves his place in a settled defence for me
