This friendly game was a bit much for some of our younger players, apparently..........

 

Losing faith very quickly with GB. Never ever his fault eh!

 

I’m not glossing over anything. I’m trying to establish why - given the current issues people continue to highlight - we thought we’d easily beat them because that seems to be the pervading attitude. Just saying “well they’re young ergo we should” is too simplistic IMO.

We are poor. We’re in this league for a reason and we’ve yet to establish any kind of rhythm or settled team. I agree with the criticism of Bowyer on that.

These ‘children’ as you call them - they have been getting generally well beaten, agreed, but by teams in the league above who are much better and much more clinical than us.

Those teams have, by and large, been taking advantage of Bolton tiring in the 2nd half because that’s when they’ve been conceding the majority of those goals. That would have been the same tonight if we could take our chances.

God forbid a team coming down from the Championship actually having some decent young players, though. People would have attached zero credence to this game had we won given how derided the competition is, yet now all of a sudden because we didn’t it’s further evidence of some kind of crisis?

I’m not suggesting it’s a “take a lot of positives” game, because it’s not and the 1st half wasn’t good enough, obviously. All I’m saying is that in the current circumstances and coming off the last 2 performances/muddled tactics etc in particular, I’m puzzled why anyone thought this would/should be a stroll.

 

Lot of people complaining about the result, pretty sure this team drew against coventry a few weeks ago. we didnt have donaldson for the last 30 mins and didnt have vaughan on at all. While still having 23 shots and 60% possession! It does look like we should have won this game and i do think we were unlucky to do so!! (I know we won on pens but i think we should have gotten 3pts here not 2)

 

I wonder if he's trying to point out that we had plenty of younger players out there too?

He’s Romanian. Was on Man U’s books and has been on loan at Salford. Looks a real prospect agreed. Expect him to be picked up in January or will be on the fringe of Bolton’s first tram this season. He did a few of our more “experienced “ defenders a few times.

 

Hang about, didn't these same players, to a man, talk about a big reason for joining City being the opportunity to play in front of big crowds? But we shit it playing in front of 9k fans? What's his logic for FGR turning up at our place and controlling the game?

Excuses. Hes prepared the team poorly, again.

 

During practice before the game started Gibson was superb at scoring goals, he was brilliant, easily the best. That tells me Gibson must have a mental problem with scoring because he clearly has the ability.

 

Cause and causation. You are assuming that because there was a big crowd this is why we played poorly. Two things can happen simultaneously without being the cause

 

I'm not assuming it, the manager is!

I'm saying its bullsh*t. I'm saying the manager didn't prepare his team properly and is again deflecting blame.

 

I'm brilliant at scoring goals that dont count for Bradford City too. Sign me up!

 

It was a privilege to listen to the game on the radio Mr Bowyer.

 

He was up in the posh seats with the new club owner(s). They mentioned him on the ifollow commentary.

 

It shouldn’t be confusing. I’m basically saying Bolton upped their game 10x more than they would normally due to the occasion.

 

It was the 3-5-2 formation that was a bit too much for them.

Bowyer rapidly going downhill in my estimation.

 

Both Hill and David Flitcroft were introduced to the fans before the game and were on the pitch at the end. Never saw them in the home Directors who were next to me so assume they watched from near pitch side. Hill has two clear weeks to drill his new signings as they were due to play Bury on Saturday so we shall see.

 

GB is embarrassing himself there.

9000 people there, around 2/3s of our average crowd and all of a sudden our starting 11 turned into Shay McCartan?

He’s 100 % spouting absolute rubbish there, GB.

Hopefully, just hopefully, he’s saying it to protect the players but knows himself, deep down, so many of the reserves are not up to starting for us now.
