It’s completely bewildering why we loan out a proven goalscorer to a rival team.

Why on earth didn’t we play to his strengths he’d be banging them in with the correct players around him.

A ludicrous decision. All so we can bring in an extra crappy midfielder because the 10 he already had wasn't enough!!!

Just watched Doyle’s goals typical man in the box goals and well taken. James Hanson header for Grimsby not bad either.

Doyle - 18 months of absolute baba in a City shirt.

He's another player who's making you look silly though.

I got it wrong on Doyle and I'm happy to admit so. Why don't you do the same rather than coming up with ridiculous theories where if a striker does his job and scores for fun the team suffers?

The amount of points Doyle has earned Swindon through his goals: 5

Where Swindon would have been without Doyle's goals: 19th.

Where Swindon are with Doyle's goals: 5th.

"whenever a team 'plays his strengths' they do badly."

Yeah Jon, those poor Swindon fans who have to endure the pain of a goal scorer keeping them in promotion contention. If Wellens has any sense he'd send him back and replace him with a 5 goal a season man who can defend corners.

Doyle made City look silly, he had no intention of earning his cash at City, he clearly didn't want to be here.
He may score lots of goals at Swindon, enjoy watching them if it makes you feel better.
I have more contempt for him than other players, because he has the ability, but just was happy to collect his salary without breaking sweat.

I agree with you. Doyle was an embarrassment in a City shirt. So much so I was delighted when we got rid of him.

It has nothing to do with the bizarre theory that Swindon are suffering through Doyle's goal scoring antics. I mean those poor folk who had to watch him score a double vs Morcambe and Cheltenham and a last minute leveller vs the league leaders...

Doyle free scoring for Swindon and blaming him for them not winning is like a Bradford fan trying to blame Connor Wood coming into the side and us losing two on the bounce. Utterly bizarre.

Never played him in position, never played him in the right system, never played to his strengths.

    It's nonsense.

He played in a 2, in a 1, behind a 9 and did jack shit for 3 managers apart from bang a couple of penalties in - this and he was a top earner. He showed no sort of form or signs that he was going to do a job for us and he had to go.

We've had Donaldson practically on the wing at times this season and he's showing tenfold than what I'd seen from Doyle in the past 12 months. Is that his position? no.

We need another striker in but keeping Doyle would of been madness based on what he was producing - which was absolutely nothing again this season.

Always thought there was goals in him after watching his Oldham highlights and we never stuck to a pattern of play to try and get the best out of him. Too much chop and change. Then I could n’t see how we could fit him in once we brought in Vaughan and Donaldson but I still wanted him to stay.
But after watching him play up front on his own (again) against Preston, I thought it was time and best for him to move on. Not been easy being a City player these last few years, in a different time he could have been a success.

He was awful, and was never going to click here.

He's gone little we can do now, my worry woulld be if them and us are in a play off pisition around Christmas will we recall him or ask Swindon to pay a fee to keep him.
You dont help a team that is chasing the same goal as you. even if he didnt score again for us he cerainly won't be scoring for Swindon.

People can't accept that Doyle leaving was the right choice, sadly.

It literally doesn't matter how many he scores elsewhere. Keeping him here would have been a mistake.

    I get it!

You're the type that believes Petrescu and Carbone were good signings, and we were just unlucky to have worse results with them than 40 year old Dean Saunders and Stephen Wright!

Tactics must be so easy in your FIFA world ;)

i have no idea what that means, Doyle was useless for us but quite clearly is a better fit else where. Easy in hindsight to say we should have done and done that but the truth is his time did not work and a move was the best for all concerned. Same with Hanson, on a scoring spree at Grimsby yet there is no guarantee whatsoever he would have done the same here. All about manager and their philosophies. Bowyer has now brought enough players in of his own to be able to model a side capable of playing to his instructions, he has kept existing ones that he feels can add to this group of players. After todays transfer day i don't want to here no more about how he needs more time or transfer windows, i want a successful season. He needs time and i'll give him the rest of the season. Below 7th is not an option, failure to hit this standard by the end of the season should be automatic dismissal.

I'm not worried we won't hit 7th, and even though a lot more work needs doing, I agree he has brought in enough players to have a significant impact.

We still badly need to get rid of four or five from last season, and if they departed we could get even more superior players in, but no manager ever got it perfectly right after one window.

It will be interesting to see if we do any transfer business today but I'd suggest our 3 biggest earners have gone.
The way he's playing I would not be trying to push O'Connor out of the door, and the way Bowyer speaks about McCartan I think he wants the challenge of proving the lad can play.
Can't see Akpan moving so late in the window I belive well have to go with what we have, Id really like cover for our strikers but that has been well covered.
