So we negotiated add-ons, i.e. money for playing x number of Prem league games, then x for playing 10 league games and another x for playing 20 times, but no sell-on?

    Unlikely

As do we all. But wanting us to receive a smaller amount from a player sale just to prove a point?

Christ, you’ve got access to the club’s accounts now? Is that the real reason why you refused to pay for a membership to join the board?

@Dennis@Dennis I think or one of the mods looked into the accounts and it hasn't been covered as yet.

The accounts won’t be out yet for 2018/19, so I’m not sure that’s true. I believe the accounts are usually “published” at the end of March, but only cover up to June the previous year (so March 2019, would have covered the period up to June 2018).

Besides, the Bradford City “accounts” aren’t full, they only provide a Balance Sheet (Unaudited abridged accounts)

Sure @Dennis@Dennis or whoever said it will be on here soon to explain.

I don't believe it's been covered yet either.

As I said, the accounts haven’t been recorded with Companies House yet and won’t do until March 2020 (if you want to see the financial picture up to June2019 that is).

They lost nearly £1m per week before incoming transfer fees but that pushed them back up to just a £3m annual loss. But it still highlights the gulf they had to close in 2018/19 in the Championship with lower revenues outside of parachute payments. They've had another £30m of player sales at the start of 2018/19 but still look to be carrying £30m+ debt, with an £8.5m repayment due soon.

    https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/swansea-city-committed-investment-club-16072115

"Total operating costs, including an increase of £27.7 million in player amortisation costs of £51.9 million, amounted to £175.1 million compared with £150.8 million for the previous year."

    https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/what-swansea-citys-accounts-actually-16197856

Swansea’s operating loss before player sales were accounted for was a mammoth £48.3million, as £175million of costs heavily outweighed just under £127million of club revenues.

Swansea’s £3.2million pre-tax loss was thanks to the club realising a £46.1million profit on player sales – mainly Sigurdsson to Everton, but also Modou Barrow to Reading and Fernando Llorente to Tottenham.

Not sure if it's been said but Tony McMahon and/or Colin Doyle returning to City is a possibility apparently.

Yes, yes I do believe it because the accounts say so and Kieran Maguire, the Liverpool University football finance expert, says so.

Yes, I agree with you. Swansea made a small loss (£3mill) in their last season in the PL. And that was despite making a profit of £46mill on player sales and receiving £99mill from the Sky contract! They are in deep shit. The only bright(ish) spot for them is their relatively low level of debt (compared to many PL and former PL clubs) of around £16mill although it's rumoured that has just about doubled since they were relegated. Whilst parachute payments will continue to help them this season, they are going to have to sell some more players this summer to help their future position. Which takes us right back to Oli!

Without seeing how they spend their finances, it would be interesting to see the spread of their spending during that season. If you try playing with the big boys it doesn't take a long time to end up with the Geoffrey Richmond and Bolton scenario where, if relegated and you don't go straight back up, you either cut your losses straight away or the debt spirals out of control. I think we will see a lot more of this in the future as teams chase the dream of the premiership.

Thanks for your input, choice of low fee with sell on or good money up front with add ons, went for the latter!

Doyle and Hanson are both contracted until next summer so not sure where theses rumours are coming from.

Desperation to get more old players back.... We got rid of them for a reason. Why people would want them back now is just mad.
