    I'm chilled mate.

We're in a better position then I thought we would be 4 weeks ago but we need to vastly improve still. Our defence is awful.

If there's one thing to be learned from this season (and teams like Bury last season), is that throwing money at a problem will not solve it. Our problems aren't really a lack of quality and we do not need a complete squad overhaul.

First priority is getting things sorted behind the scenes. I think we are nearly there now. Quality fitness coach in, Rahic gone, Rhodes back, Rupp being more involved are all positives and I do not think it is a coincidence performances / results have started to pick up. I'm not ITK at all, but what I do hear coming out of the club is completely different to just a few weeks ago.

Secondly, I genuinely think getting rid of the bad eggs in the squad will be as good as a new signing. The likes of Wright, Reeves, Riley, Seedorf, Jones, Gibson can't even make the bench. Hopkin clearly doesn't want them here. Do whatever we can to get rid. Our squad is bloated, we can't carry deadweight.

Third priority is keeping the decent players that we do have. I.e. Payne. We will not be able to sign a player as good as Payne as a replacement if Town sell him to someone else. Our next best option would genuinely be to recall McCartan. Heard that Miller has attracted some lg1 attention higher up and would not be at all surprised if LOB is too.

Fourth is getting new bodies in, and we probably only need 2/3 quality signings. We do not need to sign players for the sake of it. We've got far too much of that as it is:
    GK - Sorted
    RB - Sorted
CB - Look to be getting back to form. They are decent players. Sorted.
LB - Maybe. Chickson was the weak link against Sunderland but then again he was targeted and up against Aiden McGeady. He was fine against Scunthorpe. I'm not writing him off just yet and Wood appears to be half decent cover
Wingers - Definitely need. Scannell out injured, Robinson - who knows and Seedorf was useless. Urgently need some pace out wide. Possibly 2 players.
CM - Akpan and LOB are decent. JOB as cover.
Attackers - Doyle has been disappointing but he'll be staying. Miller, Payne, Ball all have some question marks as to if they'll be here in Jan. Probably need to keep them all. Need a decent target man to hold the ball up.

Do all that and think we will be fine this season

It's irrelevant as to whether or not the window is open. Clubs have already announced signings which will take effect on January 1st and if we were organised I would've thought we would be in that bracket too, especially as we are in such a desperate position and need players imminently.

We are skint, players wont come in until we have got rid of the likes of Jones, Reeves and Wright. We cant afford to offer decent wages until some are off the books.

Got to get rid of the injury prone ones, perhaps even get rid of Tyrell if its free's some money up.

Club is more important than anyone's career.

Has Rupp seen the change in results and questioned whether we really need an overhaul? Perhaps he's tempted to see if we can muddle through til the summer?

I'm sure he was quoted at the Scunthorpe game as saying we have injuries and we need to make sure we get players in.

I would presume the next 2 games against Dale and Accy will decide where we go in the transfer market as we will have 10 days without a game. No point rushing and getting players in that don't improve us just because hopkin said he wanted players in by jan 1st. Our upturn in fortunes clawing back the pts so we weren't adrift have given us a little bit of leeway. I still expect 4/5 incomings with 3 or so going out possibly more if hopkin decides to get rid of some of the fringes players too.

Dont know why they dont go in for George Williams. With Fulham and in the Welsh squad, but no disrespect meant , ended up at Forest Green Rovers. Check out his hat trick against Newport on boxing day.

Stefan has been naive but is not stupid, to not improve our squad in this transfer window would be stupid if he has the interest of the club at heart. We have to hope that he has and actions speak louder than words.

That has come from nowhere but an unsubstantiated article in the telegraph I believe?

And it wasn’t just about players. Was to pump into the club. No mention of it going on players

He had a loan spell there a while back , plus they got another George Williams on their books . I live in south wales , and there were big things expected of him a few years back.

I agree we have some time now and the points we have, have also given us breathing space. However it takes time for then to get up to speed with Hopkins style of play. If we don’t get them in early enough we will be at end of jan before we know it.

And that’s providing we don’t lose any of our better loans in the mean time

I agree, I believe the input of fiance is to sort the mess Edin left, that's not having a go at Edin but what I'm given to believe is fact.
I hope there is a substantial amount for Dave Hopkin but I think although Stefan is a wealthy man I'm not sure we will be looking at Charlie Wyke's of the past in this January window.

The £1m was to cover the player budget overshoot. It is likely to exceed even this figure.

It is not for signing new players.
