Buy a club, sell the players, sack the manager, sell the club. Business genius!

If you believe that, you don’t read the right newspapers. Rhodes pretty much said exactly the same, at the time, to the Yorkshire Post. Both former owners claimed they had had offers previously but could not supply proof of sufficient investment.

Whether you believe that to be the reason for the non-sale (or the more likely scenario that it didn’t meet their valuation), but the fact remains both were ‘big gobs’ if we are to listen to you

Can’t believe you’re slating Lawn because of the lack of investment by the current owners. How do you know they hadn’t given assurances that they had the money to invest and WOULD spend it, only to go back on this?

If our current owners are looking to sell the club why on earth are they spending £250,000 over the summer replacing the drainage under the pitch ?

Just like the same way they are still paying the installments of the purchase of the club with it's own income.

This is why I don’t think Edin will sell. Rupp would just get his money back and be happy with that.
Edin on the other hand has sunk his life savings in to the club him and his wife have probably given up jobs in Germany and moved his family over here and is putting his children through school.
I think he would want over the value as compensation. In reality the club couldn’t be sold without both owners consent

Except there haven’t been any dividend payments to the owners yet that they could use.

I am confused :( @Lard Arse@Lard Arse you are one of our top posters. Can you please explain to me what you are saying on the purchase of our club. Paying for the club in instalments?

    Quite simply
The payment of buying the club was set into four installments over a set period of time obviously agreeable to both the selling & buying parties.
Quite normal in the purchase of a limited company.

Thank you. Obviously I know very little of corporate finance. However I am also disturbed that profits or monies coming into the club, player sales etc may in part being used to pay these instalments? Is this legal?

    My understanding of it is & I could be wrong;
You get a loan to buy the club, then the club pays the repayments. It's how the glazers bought manu

Yes as long as the company is trading solvent.
I wouldn't suggest there not going to completely empty the piggy bank of the club reserves . They will need working capital to keep the smooth running of the club.
The wages each month would be a major substantial debt.
You usually know in these circumstances if the owners (not suggesting ours in this instance) are unwilling to keep funding club when the wages don't get paid on time.

The Glazers bought manure and then saddled the club with that debt.
That was the Major problem, that the club was servicing the debt not the owners own pockets (although effectively they do as the own the club).

Where have I blamed Mark Lawn for the lack of investment from the current owners?o_O

Don't just make things up for an argument, I'm slating Mark Lawn for playing the big I am during the sale that is all, judging by the likes I've received I'm not the only one with this thinking. Stay off the drink when posting mate.

Regarding Rhodes, I can't say I saw him playing up the sale like Lawn did, although Lawn's is harder to miss with his gob, but maybe he did, feel free to post it as I wouldn't mind reading it.

With a club like Man Utd you can do that as they will always sell out. Serviceable debt. No businessman in his right mind uses his own capital when he can borrow it.
