Darragh McAnthony touched on this in the podcast episode with Sparks. He said they'd never be allowed due to the knee injuries they cause and most pro players who've had knee ligament injuries won't train on them because of recurrences of previous problems.

I suppose that's without the usual other problems they cause like burns etc.

 

Its the end of the world when we start playing on artificial pitches.

 

I understand most of the top Premier league pitches are hybrid artificial and natural grass to wear better

That could create requests from other teams. Perhaps Peterborough's opponents don't want to play on their pitch which resembles a ploughed field.?

 

Apparently they will play two games at Cardiff against Bradford City on Tuesday, 9 March and Leyton Orient on Saturday, 20 March before returning to Rodney Park to play their remaining home fixtures.

 

Passed Harrogate Town yesterday and had a peek. Think they will be the next applicant!

So you'll be playing Newport at 'home' in Cardiff. They're on a miserable run of form so hoping that your match and the match with Leyton Orient will give time for their field of mud to turn into an Eden of a bowling green. It's a tricky one. Any fan would want their team to play on a decent surface for a variety of reasons (style, safety, quality etc) but if it ends up giving them play off/promotion hopes by winning those matches then something doesn't seem quite right. And yes, hosting 2 rugby clubs can hardly help the playing surface. Hope you stuff them...!

 

I'm hoping the quality playing field will be more to our liking than theirs. I do agree though, they should have to use their own pitch for the full season and be made to ensure the pitch can last a full season going forward.
