I am sure he did, however he may have been incorrect in his analysis and emotional to properly assess what went wrong. I would like to know when it is a managers fault when players don’t fully understand their brief, or have been unable due to skill shortage? If the players go out with a brief to implement a plan and are then unable to execute it. The only explanation to fit your analysis, is if the players are deliberately not following instructions, wouldn’t you agree?

I think its a mix of confusing formations and a team still gelling. However bottling tackles and not tracking back is down to individual players attitude. Which is disappointing to hear really.

What I don’t see either on field or off it are leaders. Those that are able to lead a developing team through the initial stages of the team coming together and onto when they can perform. No manager worth their salt in my view blames the players for their shortcomings. You take the flack that is coming your way, and protect the fledgling team. You may have a word in private with players if they are not performing to see what is happening but you don’t stand there and say ‘ formations don’t matter if the players don’t follow instructions’ Here is what he should have said, it would appear I am at fault because clearly the players have misunderstood the way I wanted them to play, and I will address this shortfall in my communication skills as soon as possible’

However, the picture I have seen today suggests we have a problem with the old adage of too many cooks etc., however, bar one they are all apprentices with very little knowledge of how to cook this dish!!!

 

I disagree, this is a brand new team, to say attitude is the problem is failing to see the problem. If players are hesitant about tackling and tracking back, that is down to confusion and lack of good communication.
