Said it many times, but a lower league club or two are going to go under before long. This financial madness can not continue.
Fleetwood will never be able to repay any of that debt, how long does the owner continue to waste his money, losing £600k per month to be relegated to league 2.

    Spot on @Storck@Storck .

I also don’t think l said Sam Jewell (he clearly does have some form of connection).

It is the concept that someone so young without the history could be appointed to the role of Director of Football.

True but Sam Jewell has been poached from Brighton where he has worked up a good reputation. I would hope we could head hunt the right candidate from somebody at a similar level.

I'm confused now, not difficult these days!, but who is the former manager's son you refer to then?

Hypothetical situation. Say someone like Danny Wilson or Joe Royle. No connection to City.

You’re right Andy and Fleetwood owner currently doing time for fraud so son running and apparently destroyed things.
Then you have Harrogate where owner has loans approaching £5 mil, Wrexham where owners company loans approach £8 mil and losses of over £5 mil last season, Harrogate over £1 mil and loads more with greater losses

Do you think the football regulator will actually have any powers, or is it just blowing in the wind by the government.
You would like to think they could bring some sort of sanity back to our national sport.
You still in Spain, or back to wet old blighty?

    blowing in the wind.

can you imagine the uproar if suddenly a club is told they can not buy players or worse still have to sell their star players due to over spending. Fans would go mad.

Everton again with almost £90 million losses for the 22-23 season, and overall debt of £330 million ,i am sure the fans would rather have a club that is run in a better way, than overspending and points deductions, which will eventually lead to relegation and no parachute payments i believe , It can only end one way.
The money at the fop is killing football and in the end its the fans of the so called lesser clubs that will pay the price.

Do those debts include the cost of the new stadium?

Those who support Rupp had better be careful not to slag off the approach by other clubs to take in these debts, according to his statement he will be doing just that! He has stated that sustainability has failed, the opposite to that of course is to take on loans. So we will soon be in their position, although it’ll take a while to build up them debts. If the debt is to the owner then provided they don’t pull the plug it is fine, which applies more to Harrogate and Wrexham than Fleetwood to use Roger’s examples.

He was a little better than a 1 in 5 striker - by todays standards he would be hounded out.

Any director, loaning a business money will expect to see some sort of return on their investment, its business.
    Football is no different .

Its not just about goals though , he formed good partnerships and was a good foil for the players along side him.
I am not sure if Nahki would have scored so many without Jimmy at the side.
Sometimes you need to look beyond just scoring.

Not all owners put it in as loans. The other option would be to put it in as an investment, so issue new shares in the company.

Wrexham owners charge base rate plus 3% so their interest was costing them £8k a week last year whilst in the conference

He'd have no chance. There are plenty who'd be glad to see the back of a just over a 1 in 2 striker.

That could be said of any appointment on here, but as @Idlebantam@Idlebantam says he's now at Chelsea after doing well at Brighton apparently Manchester United were looking but Chelsea got in first, I cant see we could afford Sam, who by the way is a ringer for his dad,

It isn’t affording him, it is his meteoric rise from not being a ‘name’, no playing history, no lengthy involvement with Brighton in the capacity as DOF, to go going to Chelsea at the age of 34! If for instance Danny Wilson’s lad, rocked up at VP in the role, l guess many would question the appointment.
