Are our fans always so negative? If the fee is 100k plus, which it will be that's a decent fee. They won't disclose, it works for both parties. Carlisle won't want other clubs knowing they're splashing tonnes of cash out and city won't want clubs and players knowing how much they have to play with.

Standard practice. Also reduces pressure on players.

How do you know we're not reinvesting the Harry money in new players?

I don't see a reason to buy at the inflated January prices, but surely this means the pot will be bigger than it would be for the summer.

I could understand you outrage if Rupp had given us a crap transfer budget year in year out, but he hasn't we've nearly always been amongst the highest ones. Even in the relegation season, we were apparently 7th highest.

It's been commented on here, that we had a bigger budget last season than Carlisle, Stevanage and Northampton - which made our failure even more galling.

Scunthorpe fans wanted their owner as apparently it was a no-brainer that there was better out there. I'm not certain they think that now.

Rupp fouled up by been hoodwinked by that idiot Rahic. Since then though he's given enough cash to managers - it's them who fouled up. And before we say he shouldn't have taken on Adams and Hughes - let's remember that Lawn/Rhodes didn't exactly get it right with their first few managers.

 

I'm fine with this, provided Rupp keeps his promises and the money is reinvested into the club - as that's the definition of 'self sustainable'. Although of course the 2022/23 accounts will be soon released!!

Love the way Harry says how much he loves us and then goes off to League 1 relegation favourites, Carlisle. LOL!!

He must have a good release clause with them as it makes no sense. He can't be that skint that he couldn't wait 5 months, when he'd be perhaps slightly cheaper and would have more clubs looking for a keeper (as it's a position most managers don't change mid-season)

Yes he's an outstanding L2 keeper, but I'm not certain he makes that much of a difference for us to be significantly weakened in that position. If it's Sam Walker - he looks OK.

I can't think of any financial *@?$-ups and the way they are handling the Young situation is spot on. He's made managerial ones - he never should taken on Adams unless he was prepared to back him for at least two seasons, because he takes his time turning a club around.

It is far likely that Carlisle will not want the fee to be disclosed, because they want at least five or six players this window and to disclose transfer fees - means other clubs then inflate there's as they see hard evidence of the buying club having money. Note, they've also kept the fee they paid for Armstrong from Harrogate 'undisclosed'.

 

No problem with Lewis going, he has to do what’s right for him, especially financially. He might have a few more quid in the bank but it’s hardly a massive career move.
