Where do you get £6 from?

£198 divided by 23 is £8.61

 

As I've said before, there should be two figures given.
Tickets sold and actual attendance through the turnstiles.
Would be very interesting to see the difference.

Curiosity Park. We see 'attendance' figures given out and many times we all know that there aren't that many there.
Laughable sometimes.

 

I go in the Bantams bar so mines nothing like £6 and do all these £6 per game include Shirts, kiosk sales and merchandise etc ?????

The attendance figure is the number of people who have paid to see the match including all season tickets.

 

RE the attendances, it has always been done that way and is the same as all other clubs - the STs counted irrespective of whether they turn up. Not sure if pre-match tickets sold but who don’t attend are counted in the figure, though. I presume they would be.

Every turnstile has a counter above it but a lot were broke or don’t count accurately (20 years ago, maybe they’re fixed now). They don’t tell you if someone going through the gate is an ST holder or match ticket buyer, though, so that’s why they have the turnstile people in there.

with the cards and barcode readers now, it will be easier to compute the numbers than it was 20 years ago, but back then you kept your ST vouchers separate from your pre-match stubs, and freebies, then everything was taken to the ticket office in a little room near the changing rooms where they’d tot up each total.

The club know the exact breakdown of how many ST holders are turning up and what proportion of fans are match day sales or freebies, but publicly we’ll never know how many ST holders don’t turn up - all we can do is look in the stands for empty seats.

Ultimately football is entertainment and like any show you want your sales figures as high as possible. So understandable why clubs do it that way.

 

I remember in our PL days (first season) we always used to announce the same attendance figure, around 18,276 it was. One week my family missed a game due to a wedding so my child self was curious to see if the number dropped by three for that one game. It didn’t, despite our seats remaining empty all game!

I would have thought the club would have to keep a true count on match days for H&S reasons?

Health & Safety ? It's all smoke & mirrors to upsell the demand. If they published the real figures, which whilst not obliged to do so, people would see exactly what our support is and I believe would be shocked.

Well if H&S doesn't float your boat, try honesty, clarity and lack of ambiguity as a reason.

 

The people who need to know the exact attendance will know and for everyone else you get the tickets sold number. Every single club does it as there is no reason not to. Ours are probably on the high end of the differences especially on midweek games as people buy a season ticket knowing if they go to 10 games then they've got their value from it so if they miss tuesday night games due to work etc it doesn't matter whereas other clubs you are probably looking at 20 games to get value or the Premier League clubs you can easily sell on your season ticket if you can't go to a match.
