Barnsley (H) - August 11th

Depends if "first day nerves" for those making their home debuts take over. If they do it could well be a long afternoon. The crowd getting behind them from the first whistle, and not reacting to any mistake, will settle their nerves and it could well be a great game with a favourable result.

 

I get the impression that some of our new boys - Scannell, Payne, O'connor, Seedorf, Doyle, possibly Mellor - are no respecters of reputation and will relish pitting their wits against one of the league favourites

 

I don’t care how we win tbh. 3 points will do for me, 2 would be no embarrassment and if we lose, then we can use it to learn from.

 

Agreed, five points from the first two games would be a decent enough return!

Watched the highlights of the Barnsley game. Potts seemed a bit of a handful, think we could be part of the way there if we can keep him quiet.

Probably makes financial sense if you don't have to open another stand and also will keep the caterers happy as the away fans can buy alcohol in the Midland Road stand.

I really understand the caution, let's not get carried away with one win, Ivrealky do but what us it that Edin has done to make you "not a fan"?

One very good season followed by one that was going well but then went pear shaped. Infrastructure, pitch, sorted out, shop sorted out, management team brought in, significant additions to the squad, particularly this summer but also last year.

What is it he was supposed to have done that he hasn't?

I really am at a loss as to what else he was supposed to have done.
