I think he just needs to learn when to release it and possibly run in behind a lot more. He's always coming short receiving it back to goal which means he's already doing half the defenders job for him.

If he mixed it up a bit and was available to either receive it on the half turn or happy to make the run in behind I think he'd have much more success.

Both Pointon and Wilson were guilty of being predictable though and if they start they'll need to both go outside on their right foot now and again to keep the defender guessing. We saw with Banks late last season how difficult that can be for a full back if it's done well.

 

If it meant Hughes going I'd happily accept that.

 

That gives us extra legs in the middle but Walker feels wasted slightly on the right and is never as effective when he's played wide.

I don't mind the team though but I'd also prefer Richards at full back

 

This game will be a typical leag

well the two centre halves and for that matter the whole defence is playing well so no need to change there at all. But cover is needed

 

I didn't see last nights game. Did Wilson get on. Reason I ask is that in his brief appearance against Harrogate he came inside and hit a rasping shot off his left just over the bar, but also went outside, got to the line and pulled a ball back across the 6 yard box - no one was there obviously because we were playing without a striker but he did show he could go either way.

 

I didn't see it listen to the game so I've no idea if he got on or not.

 

He did come on briefly and looked bright again. He looks more like an out and out winger

Yes he got on and I have to say, I think he looks very promising.

 

Has to start ahead of Wilson. He and Tulloch were good first half at Newport - no reason in their performance that warrants been dropped.

Gillead and Macdonald are the CM pairing for now. Fitting Pattison in is a must when fit. Good problem for Hughes to have.

 

2pts off the play offs and secretly willing we get hammered so the gaffer loses his job. What a fan you are.

Call me old fashioned but id prefer us to win.

I've enough loyalty points to be in tier one every away game and spend thousands every year following them with my two kids, so yes, what a fan I am.

Unfortunately though I find the football under Hughes very unenjoyable and don't believe he'll ultimately get us promoted.

Time will tell I suppose but even last season was turgid with very little enjoyment and the two play off games sealed the deal for me, that's the point I lost faith in Mark Hughes.

 

Another 4-1 here wouldn't go amiss.

Over/under on how many good wins it takes before people stop praying for Hughes to get the sack?

 

The stubborn ones on here wont be convinced otherwise now. Even if we are promoted they will find somwthing.

The fickle ones will change their mind every few games, win or lose.

 

I didn’t see much of the Newport game only highlights but I’m hoping Hughes implemented. More attack minded game plan.

4-2-3-1 can be a very forward attacking formation or it can become a very defensive 4-5-1 with Cook isolated.

Can Hughes change or is he just set in his ways and Newport were crap! We will find out on Saturday!

 

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion I guess. Can anyone honestly say they’ve enjoyed watching Hughes Bradford City though? It’s been a hard watch so far in my opinion, I sit with 5 other people who have had season tickets for 30 years plus and we are all of the same opinion.

Not negative just a fact!

 

Not really - but promotion is the aim and if we go up watching dire football then so be it. I'm all about results and 2pts off the play offs (and 4pts off automatic places) after 9 games is not a sackable offence.

I hold hope that now we have some key players back and off the back of a really positive performance last week we can push on. End of November/early December is the time to judge Mr Hughes and see if we are looking like a team that can aim for promotion.

 

Again, willing us to lose a game so the manager gets the chop - doesn't sit right with me despite how many loyalty points you have. You could have a point if we were sat near the bottom of the league....

Hughes was far from a disaster last season (we came closer than ever in L2) and this season has been an underwhelming start but we are 2pts off the play offs and 4pts off the autos.

Be careful what you wish for.......Grayson, Collins, Hopkin, Bowyer, McCall, Trueman, Adams. I would much rather stick than twist at this stage.
