Sadly something has gone wrong during his short time at Valley Parade, we give a kid a three year deal hoping he'd improve and be an asset to Bradford City.

The fact we're stuck in League Two year in year out yet consistently giving away a top scoring / proven centre forward to a fellow league rival makes us look utterly idiotic and a complete shambles

He's shite here too this season. We might as well be playing with 10 men every match

I'm not comparing them as players, I'm talking about not making the same mistake again in January. Bringing Doyle back in the January that year did not derail Swindon's season and it certainly didn't help our own, we eventually sent him back because it caused more disharmony in our own squad having him back. The same thing would happen with Young imo if we recalled him because there's no way he would want to come back here if Hughes is still at the helm.

If he keeps banging them in for Swindon he could still turn out to be a very good (financial) asset for us.

You can't condone the alleged remark that Young made to Hughes and he should have been disciplined, if what we've heard is correct, rather than virtually being exiled. Worse things have happened on the training pitch, even fisticuffs, which are quickly forgotten, as "heat of the moment" actions.

Right now, we could do with Jake Young, in his current scoring form, hitting the net for us, not Swindon. On his own, he's already scored seven compared to our measly four.

The route of retribution, the club took, has certainly rebounded on us as, once again, Swindon look like making mugs of us.

The difference then was we tried to bring Doyle back and put him straight into our team. I can’t remember who our manager was at the time.
I’m saying that if come January both us and Swindon are in the playoff mix and Young is their top scorer, we should recall him not necessarily to play for us but simply to weaken them.

I agree. I can’t help feeling why two adult men cannot sort it out. I know MH has to keep discipline nevertheless we buy these players so that this club can make progress. ATM he is giving Swindon a massive leg up.

It is also true his current form might not continue but it may. We may need to sell him if he won’t come back to us. I don’t like it one bit. How else are we to make progress? We now need another striker in order to plug the gap of Cook not being fit and out of form.

In my eyes Young has talent you could see that, I remember him playing a blinder against Sheff Weds in the Tin Pot trophy and I remember reading there fans forum raving about him how they should be looking to take him off of us, anyhow obviously things have gone on behind the scenes between MH and Young so while MH is here Young wont play for us again. So with that in mind however annoying it may be the best thing for us is for Young to keep scoring tons for Swindon and increase his transfer value, if he keeps this up come January he will have lots of interested parties besides Swindon which could provide us with a much needed transfer budget boost.

I know exactly what you're saying and imo, it's a ridiculous idea. Doyle was miserable being back here even though he was playing and it impacted on the whole team, but bringing a player back who is scoring for fun elsewhere and then not playing them at all would be even worse and could end up creating a really toxic atmosphere. Also, it would be extremely petty and might make future potential targets think twice about signing for us.

It's always annoying when a striker leaves on loan and goes somewhere and smashes a bunch in.

Watching the highlights, he and Kemp are linking up really nicely.

It's even more frustrating because this is the second time we've lent Swindon Town a striker who starts hammering them in for fun. They're taking the piss out of us.

That said, Jake Young is no Eoin Doyle, who just didn't fit into our system but was proven - this is Jake Young realizing he absolutely has to prove himself or his days as an EFL player are over.

Fair play to the lad, he's making this decision from Hughes look a bad one.

With all that said, Swindon always borrow their best players. We borrowed Andy Cook of Mansfield Town. A striker doesn't work out at one club, but could work out at another - it's not like Swindon Town couldn't have had Young on a free, they literally weren't certain of his credentials so took him on a low-risk loan rather than a permanent.

Maybe this is what Young needs to make a career for himself, because he did little at FGR and nothing at City. If it is, we should be happy for him, right? If Hughes hadn't dismissed him to the kids' team, I doubt we'd be seeing him score 4 in a City shirt even if he played every game.

It's 100% annoying for sure when a loaned out player crushes it, but tbh that's your hope when loaning players out and not just about saving wages I suppose.

Yep. He is only 22, if he has 20 odd goals by xmas no reason we cant command £500k for him with a decent sell on.

The thing also is if he keeps banging goals in then come January there will be lots of interest in him besides Swindon

I'd have preferred he was banging them in for us, I've not heard any post match comments from Taff about Cook but he was struggling late in the game, looked like his hip area.

    Sell Young, buy Kemp.

    Seems simple enough to me.

I agree and both sides of what could have happened have been well covered on here, I don't know what brought this on maybe it was a comment from Jake that should not have been made in front of his team mates but as you say there have been far worse things done on the training pitch actual fights between managers and players.
Many were quick to point out Hughes was correct to let him go to Barrow when his scoring record was poor, but fail to acknowledge the way he has taken his chance at Swindon.
If he continues as he is doing both scoring and making assist it will be interesting to see if Hughes brings him back to Valley Parade come January, or maybe as with Wright we sell him if any offer comes in, it will be a difficult one to say to a potential buyer we rate the lad hence the price when most will know the situation very little gets past the football jungle drums.

I doubt Kemp was one of our original targets if he was why didn't we make our interest known to MK Dons, he had a good record at Hartlepool scoring 9 from 16 appearances and was one of Hartlepool's standout players when they drew 2 - 2 at Valley Parade.
