What a bonehead

 

I used them as examples as they were favourites for promotion before a ball was kicked and went into the season with a lot of expectation.

My point stands - sacking everyone after 4 games and 4 points

It's pretty clear that there have been on-field and off-field improvements over the last few years compared to the time before. And that the club is moving -- albeit slowly -- in the right direction.

We went from barely competing in League 2 under McCall, Adams, Grayson, etc, to narrowly missing out on promotion. Whether you like it or not, Hughes has improved things on the field.

I also see a lot of criticism aimed at Sparks. I know nothing about the inner workings of running a football club, but from our last annual accounts, I recall commercial revenue was up by quite a bit. That seems like a success to me.

Turning around the fortunes of a club that has chronically underachieved for the best part of 20 years isn't going to happen fast. Some posters on here need to be more patient with the current regime. I stand by my point - even considering sacking Hughes after 4 games and 4 points is lunacy.

 

Suddenly Parky's reign has been erased from history because 5 years doesn't sound as bad as 20 years does it?

 

Things aren’t improving on the field are they? Or am I missing something,

And as for your mate Sparks - who you are clearly here to defend.

Name any other company in the world that would organise a trip through a company they not affiliated to ABTA or has registered with companies house and who is charging inflated fees and it turns out the guy running it is a mate of the CEO?

Name any other company that would put an under qualified person in charge?

Getting revenue up is the easiest thing anyone can fo at our club. I mean how many more logos can we get in our shirts and shorts?

This club needs a proper CEO who understands football and who knows how to move the club forward in terms of on and off the field.

That is not Sparks.

 

I've a feeling Sparks won't be here much longer. Thinly disguised criticism of Rupp is the first step to a bust up and the exit door.

I wonder whether Hughes is feeling the same about Rupp, somethings not right about Hughes demeanour throughout the match yesterday.

 

Should not blame Sparks as he gets his advice from the Peterboro CEO who helps him when stuck

 

including how to swindle fans by using your mate to do a summer your - and that’s the only Del Boy scheme we know about - how many others has he got that we don’t know of.

 

An interview doing the social media rounds and on Cows Arse. Not sure when it was recorded, not listened to it all.

Sparks clearly saying that the owner has put zero investment into the club during his time with club and that he continues to work hard to generate funds through sponsorship and of course 15000 season ticket sales.

Sounds to me like a big dig at Rupp

 

The recruitment is terrible. That is the problem. Not sure how much of an input the owner or CEO have in that. I would have expected better players with the contacts Mark Hughes has.

 

To be fair Rupp has always said the club must be self financing and not rely on him financing it

 

I was thinking the same idle but not just yesterday but all pre season up to the game yesterday. It's s like he not up for the seasons challenge and just waiting for the exit.

 

Yep he has but look at where that has got us and it’s time we said that we want better.

 

I saw it on Facebook but caution is needed without hearing the whole interview it may be out of context

 

He might have meant "the owner hasn't had to put in any money", as in, the club is sustainable, as in, that's a positive.

However you'd think at this point Hughes or Sparks might now be going to Rupp and asking him to actually put some money in above and beyond self-sustainability for a couple of quality additions.

I listened to the full interview a few weeks ago, it was with some man united supporter.

I’m one of the biggest Rupp outers on here and tbh I didn’t think it was worth mentioning, just felt like he was banging the self sustaining drum again. Seemed he was wearing it as a badge of honour rather than a dig. I’d have been all over it and putting it on here had that been the case.

 

Hughes improved us to the third best defensive unit last season. Then decided to rip up the playbook. Early days but we look way off a team that could hit the playoffs, let alone the automatics. Hardly progression, more like going backward.
