Good luck to Wyke, very good player at this level. Still not sure he can make the step up if they go up for the reason that he struggles as a lone striker which most at that level now play. The games I'll remember him for are his debut against Gillingham and Swindon, other than that though he didn't have them big moments I associate with the likes of Hanson and Wells.

The telling thing for me is although I recognise we've lost a very good player I'm just not gutted like I was with Wells, and it's not just because we were quick to replace him.

 

Who knows, hopefully. One thing we can say for certain is that we'll have cash left over from the deal today to further strengthen, either now or in January.

 

I suspect the deal was pretty much sorted weeks ago and the 'extra' cash has already been used to fund the Scannell/Payne/Mellor deals.

Despite some comments, great player who had a good goalscoring record and ratio.

 

Charlie is a hardworking selfless player who has done a decent job. I still think he would be better suited to playing alongside a big targetman rather than him playing there.

 

Number 9 shirt at Sunderland. Good luck to him but feel after last season he was always going to leave.

 

I for one think Charlie will do well at Sunderland I hope he gets a striking partner and more importantly the service his game needs neither of which he got here. He has gone now and we have to look forward to our season players on the pitch seem to be good enough for maybe a play off push not sure the head coaches have the experience or ability tho.

Good luck to him. I liked Wyke, he was terrific for us for the most part - however, I am more than happy with Doyle in to replace him.

Hope Chaz does well, and gets us those add ons.

 

Just what is the situation with regards the transfer of Charlie, neither club have come out and said the deal has been completed or have I missed the official announcement, strange one ?.

 

Would be lovely if we went up and they didn't.

I get the feeling Edin & co are not happy with Charlie. We gave him a move to div 1 with the aim of getting into the Championship & he wants to join another div 1 club.

Forget Charlie. Move on!

No he just missed the announcement as he was hiding behind a tree trying to spy any incomings.

 

Thanks I'd read the Doyle article and did read the Wyke part but honestly thought the club would have made a separate article as the club normally do giving details that he has gone and thanking him for his time at Valley Parade and wishing him well, maybe they will ?.
