A good way to save a few quid and put the money to use elsewhere.

No one is a scapegoat. If someone doesn’t rate a player it doesn’t make them a scapegoat.

He isn’t that good. We need better at LB.

He's from the area. You'd be surprised if he wanted a new challenge at this stage of his career. Unless someone offered him a 2 year deal and we were only offering 1 year.

It might be that he rejects the offer, same with Andy Cook and Gilly. The players released doesn't surprise me and I'd like to see us try and move on some of the contracted guys that probably won't feature next season.

Gilliead isn’t a surprise really because Hughes obviously rates him but Ridehalgh is. Not good news for Foulds

Ridehalgh has played most of his games with no one in front of him. I don't think he s not replaceable but then you could say that about most of the squad. Left back ain't a priority for me.

I suspect Foulds will be off and sign for Harrogate, especially if we’re signing this left back from Barrow. Surprised we’re keeping Ridehalgh.

Also a good way for Lewis to stagnant and become complacent rather than develop further.

Foulds needs to go after what Hughes did in bring in Bola. Why stick around when the manager clearly doesn't rate you to a point he brings someone in on loan to take your position.

Think this was the plan hence why i kept saying last season was a free hit but I suppose as the season went on and we got into the play offs you think ok let’s go for it.

However, when I look at the contracted players I think we need to ship a few out and get better in.

Not sure Cook will sign a new contact. The ball is really with him. League 2 clubs will be all over him. Likes of Salford, Wrexham, Notts County, Stockport(if they don’t go up) even Carlisle.

The others I think will sign.

Hopefully, we bring quality in. Big summer ahead. If we don’t go up next season or give a really good account of ourselves then we could be in Div 2 for many, many years to come. This really is the season Rupp and Sparks prove their worth. F@ck the sustainability bull shi&e that they are feeding fans and spend some money.

Offers will come in for Lewis. It will be hard to keep him.

I don't have a problem with Ridehalgh. I'd personally have gone in a different direction. But him and Halliday are sound. I'm more troubled by the offer to keep Gillead. He just doesn't produce and we've seen how badly in need we are of more energy and creativity in the midfield.

My biggest worry though, are some of the names still under contract.

Hendrie - madness to give him a 2 year deal.
Oliver - still have 2 years left, again its madness.
Young - clearly fallen out with Hughes.
East - has something, but Hughes doesn't seem to trust him.
Odusina - I'd forgotten about him.
Finn Cousin-Dawson - Not good enough
    Derbyshire - legs have gone

We don't have as many squad spaces as I'd like. Even if we keep Cook, we need another striker, 3 or 4 wide options, an attacking midfielder, a midfield play maker and another centre back. And all of that needs to be quality. Not 'take a punt and he might come good' types of signings.

Didn't do him any harm this season. Heath Richardson offered a new deal so three keepers in the building.

Wouldn’t say it’s a priority but we need better. He hardly beats a man and poor at crossing.

We need a better RB too.

I dont mind Ridehalgh he is not ‘pants’ and was a good signing but he is a bit of a steady Eddie and knocking on, he will never comfortably do anyone for pace nor will Halliday.

I guess steady eddie works both ways, he is pretty consistent and reliable, good traits esp for a defender.

Extremely harsh on Gilly. He isn't a world beater but you have to remember we are in the 4th division, personally I think he has a fantastic engine on him and the amount of running he does is ridiculous. I'm happy we have offered him terms

Ridehalgh I agree has been disappointing and hopefully he will want a fresh challenge and reject our offer. Foulds has done well in his loan and the Harrogate fans seem to like the lad, plus he is a City fan through & through and I would like to see him back with us

Bobby Pointon is my lads mate so I may be biased here but I think after a season loan with a conference team next season hopefully) he will be ready for our first team. Exceptional young player

As with most people, we need Cook to stay but it depends what other options he has

I agree with @HUDDERSSBANTAM@HUDDERSSBANTAM that MH is thinking we only need a few tweaks, a very pragmatic approach but IMHO the correct one. Why have a complete overhaul and change something that is almost the complete jigsaw

Big summer ahead, and hopefully the club have given Cook/Gilly/Rides a time limit to decide so business can be done early

No chance. Maybe next year if we don't go up.

The club would demand a fee that other clubs would be stupid to spend.

There are some on there who I question would have been retained had they not already been contracted for next season. Putting some names to that, I'm thinking of Hendrie, Odusina, Foulds maybe, Osadebe maybe. The big challenge for MH will be who on the retained list can be moved on elsewhere to create some spare capacity in order to improve the squad. If Sparks' comments about the success of the commercial side lifting the club's income to over £8m is correct, a playing budget of circa £4.5m is possible under SCMP. It's then a simple matter of whether Rupp and Sparks choose to do that!

Hendrie - Just back up, might play 4 or 5 games a season. Does a job.
Oliver - He's done it in league 1, so we know he can do it.
Young - Not developed. Probably a National League loan at Halifax?
East - Decent back up. Highly rated within the club. Pushing to start games.
Odusina - MIA after bullying issues by Wootton. Presumably we'll try and get him out on loan but will he go out?
FCD - Out on loan again. Looks like he hasn't developed. Presumably not on big wages.
Derbyshire - 20 mins off the bench when we need a goal.
