Naming Pereira as a sub recently and not even thinking about using him has been very bizarre indeed

 

I have watched the 3rd goal about 20 times and can’t work out what we were thinking. While it was a good cross, he was completely unmarked and had all the time in the world to pick his spot.
When the cross does come in the positioning of the centre backs and more importantly Lewis is crazy. I can only presume they were more concerned with the player heading towards the back post.

 

Trouble is, we can't get excited now with any new recruitments, whatever their pedigree, as we don't know whether we could trust MH to utilise them effectively ....

 

The defenders were probably as baffled as us seeing Platt on the pitch
Too many cooks spoil the broth etc
The substitution not only robbed us of our only outlet it confused the defenders who needed time to adjust
Double shot in the foot !!!!!

You’re not wrong. East looks good enough to me. So why is he not played a larger part? It is blatantly obvious that our midfield need a restructure. I am so disappointed with Smallwood, I would be happy for him to be on the bench rather than in midfield and captain. If the Management team do not give our midfield a serious makeover next season we can expect more of the same. Look at Carlisle midfield!

Defending that far post should have been Crichlow & Ridehalgh. MIA.

Irrespective of your other comments , Don is crap, he’ll be on the first bus out of here tomorrow. He’s been a huge disappointment, which NOBODY foresaw when he rejoined.

 

He wasn’t trusted to play in that position, he refused to track back and refused to get involved in tackles. That’s why he wasn’t picked.

The annoying thing is Inspector, at that point we only needed another goal to go through.
Banks was running them ragged and they were fearful of him, to then sub him for a central defender was criminal and what's worse is that Hughes gave us bs in his post match interview that Banks "was tired".
Bollocks - Hughes' bottle went and he was hanging on for penalties.
Utterly disgraceful, he has to hold his hands up and tell it how it is - on his own shoulders.

Just had a closer look at their third. Surely we have practiced in training how to set up with a back 3?

Three players not marking one man? Criminal sunday league defending and what was Lewis doing-if he had stood still that ball would have been straight at him. We have been the architects of our own downfall all season. We lost out on autos due to our own fault. We need to learn from that and make next season a more consistent one and improve our home form.
