Always thought it was going to be a big ask. City are a team that have struggled to put two 45 minute performances together all season, never mind 2/3 consecutive games. Disappointed, but it's not unexpected, unfortunately.

 

Also ask what was platt doing for the goal

 

I am ok, seen it all before. I am not certain Hughes can do it, but he must learn it we will be back to square one again.

 

I agree the substitution really was a key he got that very wrong and it cost us at the end however there were two halves of football prior. How would you have done it differently tho?

No game plan today. We were fecking awful in the first half, better in the second half but when we scored we should’ve gone for it, instead MH plays for penalties and brings on a CB. Massive error, and one he can hopefully admit to. ah well consigned to yet another season in this bastard fecking league

Positives are that we have been here before so it is nothing new, we’ll see the back of songo, threlkeld, Eisa etc and bring in the final pieces of the jigsaw, to complement a team that took us to within a goal of Wembley

MH now know what this shite league is about, I trust him to take us up automatically next season

 

Let's be honest when he didn't start a game in January, it was clear hughes would've been happy if Cook left in January window.

 

I’ve said before if anybody wants to look for it, he is not a footballer. Shouldn’t play again for us as he is a liability.

Final pieces of the jigsaw...you talk as though this squad will be staying together it won't.

You do realise there is probably only 1 automatic place to aim for as both wrexham and notts county are going to be first and 2nd with there spending and budgets

 

Ahhhhh alas. Apart from the first 45 mins of the first play off leg, we’ve been second best to Carlisle every time we’ve played and if we’re all honest, they deserved to win over two legs.

The season has had so much promise but we’ve seemingly failed to be clinical at the times when it’s mattered. Based on how the league finished got to say it’s a massively missed opportunity.

Ultimately we’ve progressed as a club from where we were last season. I suppose given we made the playoffs and the nature of how we lost today the season will feel a little like a failure and especially since our squad on paper throughout the season has to be one of the strongest. I condense the season to a few parts:
1. Lack of final cutting edge outside of Cook and Banks
2. Rigid formation and ability to figure out the centre midfield and how to best accommodate Walker into that formation
3. (The most frustrating for me) failure when we needed it most. Eg against the Rochdale, Barrow, Crawley, Hartlepool etc. Dropped points that ultimately would have seen us promoted via the autos.

Next season will be a different type of challenge, definitely some significant holes in the squad need to be filled. However I won’t feel disappointed by this season - personally I’ve become complete back engaged with the club and on the most part enjoyed watching most games this season via ifollow (of which I’ve hardly missed a game).

Disappointing, yes. But the nucleus is there to give next season a real go providing we keep the right personnel, let go of some and most importantly, bring the right ones in.

Players leave and players come in, it’s gonna be no different than any other summer. Aside from cook, I don’t give a flying feck if all the out of contract players leave

 

If you concede 3 goals to a shit Carlisle side you don’t deserve anything!
