Good point as I don’t think Romy causes any problems in the oppo box?

    Immense signing.

I don't know how we are managing him, but all the indicators from Exeter were that, at best he would be in and out of the team, due to his long term 'injury' issues.

We may yet lose him to injuries but, so far, he has been a class and a half above League 2 standard.

Fully agree with above what an asset we have, he reminds me so much of Andrew Davies, big lad, great reader of the game, solid in any dual, not the quickest by any means but this is made up by his game intelligence. I remember reading a few Exeter fans comments saying if we can keep him fit then he's too good for L2, I genuinely always take note of fans opinions with regards signings as more often than not they turn out to be not far off the mark, and so far their comments fit the bill.

I was very much in the “who” camp.

    Pleased to be proved wrong.

To also add similar to what I mentioned in another thread regarding Scott Banks being very young along way from home, which turned out to be way of the mark seeing as Banks is Scottish lol, but I'll stick to my guns and throw this out there again with Stubbs being a Northern lad who was stuck down in Exeter, and it's hard to believe he's jus 24!!!

If we found him via a scouting network, then got to give credit to it as so far he’s been a really great signing.

Not sure how we found him but I seem to remember one of his signing interviews saying going back home up North was a huge attraction, I still can't believe he's just 24!!

Too much a$$ licking going on here. Clearly everyone's too excited after a 2 goal margin home win.

He was at fault for their penalty - I was sat right across from it from Block G of the main stand. He should have put that out of play for a throw in (which would have come to nothing judging by the rest of Sutton's inept play) instead he lost his bearings, fannied about, and put Lewis in a bad predicament.

Yes, he's a very good defender for L2 level. And yes, he had a good game apart from the above. But come on, let's get real.

Second home game in a row Stubbs and Lewis have conspired to give away a penalty out of absolutely no danger at all. It was Lewis' fault for the first one, Stubbs at fault for this one.

But those moments are rare for both, and both have been excellent this season.

    Great players, League One quality.

After todays performance all I can add is your very hard to please, even given that particular poor defending.

Think it’s more those crediting him for the impact he has made since signing rather than just about today. The mistake for the pen was indeed poor, but as much a mix up between Lewis than simply down to just Stubbs.

Since joining, Stubbs and Clayton have improved us and provided a mentality we needed. Don’t see the comments above as little else of acknowledging this.

No, don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with the performance today, but you simply cannot ignore the fact that they're giving away penalties in League Two with sloppy play. That doesn't warrant all the credit they're getting.

The Grimsby one was Platt who left it after Lewis shouted “ keeper” . Not sure what Stubbs has to do with it JB. I’m sure

Was going to bite to Bantamlad a few posts above but can't be a$$ed, but then maybe I am here now, but anyhow I don't recall anyone saying Stubbs is the total ultimate defender but merely just pointing out statistics and characteristics of a good L2 player that we so needed.

Genuinely not looking for a bite, but all this about him being the 'ultimate defender', he literally couldn't communicate and/or clear a ball in his own possession which led to an opposition penalty this afternoon. That's poor.

Yes, everything else he does overrides that, but you can't just forget about the sloppiness just because we won. Had we drawn today for example, everyone would be all over it.

Keep it in perspective. Too many fickle fans, right

    It was Platt vs Grimsby.
But the point remains, centre halves and the goalkeeper between them conspiring to make life difficult.
At this end of the season, just get shut, no point taking these risks

yes we gave away a pen. He was trying to shield the ball so Lewis could keep the momentum going. That was the wrong decision because the attacker was on him and he couldn’t hold him. Row Z was the option. It is good to try and keep the ball alive and retain possession but sometimes giving away possession is the best option. However I think Stubbs has just grown into a very good CD whilst he has been here and I can only see him improving. Nothing he did today detracts from my opinion of him.

Yes he made a mistake for the penalty but so far he has been a fantastic signing for not only his play but his leadership qualities and organisation skil. A point in case after their late goal they were getting a bit of joy down our left side and I saw Stubbs sorting through communication

Lewis is the common denominator here.

It's time for Colin Doyle to be brought in. A calm, experienced head will be invaluable in the run-in and potentially the play-offs - one more of these Lewis mix-ups could be a season-ender.
