Take Valley Parade for example. Where does the noise come from? Certainly not the cast of cocoon in the Midland Road stand sat under their tartan travel rugs ( come at me grandads). It's from the lads stood up in the upper kop or the NWC. There is definitely a correlation between where the noise comes from and where people are stood up.

Whenever we get an allocation which is all seated, there will be people standing up and I'm usually one of them. When there are allocation which have the option that issue is removed as those who want to stand just buy a standing ticket.

I did enjoy the atmosphere on Saturday and I saw where the "yoof" were gathering and then just made my way to a block a few to the side. Setting off a smoke bomb in an enclosed space under the stand is in my opinion rather daft, and the atmosphere would have been pretty much the same without them so i fail to see what they add, I guess it just makes a good tiktok video.

I agree with you that it was noiser in standing areas, but that was because that is where the ‘singers’ chose to aggregate.
There could be an argument that fans are more likely to shout if stood up and when they sit down they feel less inclined to shout, but in the big cup nights at VP majority of fans are sat down and made a great noise all around the ground.

fans want to look good in front of cameras vs Villa etc, so all make a noise, even those sat down

I sit in the top of Sunwin and I dont hear any noise from the Kop. A few drumbeats from NW corner. I think our home support in the league is terrible.

we get behind the lads when the cup games vs prem teams are on and the cameras are recording.

im as guilty as the rest, though. Just turn up, get bored, check the footy scores/bets, then go home!

With 12 wins out of the last 40 odd hom games along with the style of football is there any wonder. They need to produce something to give the crowd something to shout about

It is a natural reaction to want to stand up when the play gets exciting or we score a goal.

Do you know, out of all the stats that get quoted on here and elsewhere, that is the most outstanding stat. Not sure how we compare to other clubs, but explains why our home fans cannot get over excited for home games. Winning games has a momentum effect on the crowd; it moves from one match to the next. I have seen VP cheer and urge the players even when we are losing and actually lost a match. We started the season in good form, but events on the field stymied our enthusiasm. What we have now is the equivalent of 2 seasons of poor home results averaging 6 home wins a season. You need look no further than this stat for reasons why it is flat at VP. The away support is good and buoyant because we win away from home.

I don't. My late Dad was always, to quote a modern phrase, "triggered" when he smelled one of those smoke bombs and I could see in his eyes where his head had gone. I know he's isn't/wasn't the only one either. But hey, why shouldn't some bog rats let them off off? It's all just fun (for them) right?

The pyro's smell the same as a bonfire night banger/firework, and nothing like burning wood etc

I aren't defending those who let them off one bit, especially on the concourse - that is plain idiotic and has no place in football, however I just don't see what major harm it does (and have yet to see/hear of any footage where any City fans have been harmed by a pyro)

It is now an issue with away fans at the majority of lower league clubs and as I have stated before, it is not just our fans who are guilty of partaking

I’m on O2 and can NEVER get on the internet once the game kicks off on my iPhone in the Midland Road stand. My mate never seems to have any trouble on his (I think it’s Vodaphone). Pretty crap when we are supposed to have a partnership with an internet company and advertise BRSK fibre all round the stadium.

Yeah I'm in the dreaded O2 camp. Terrible network, apparently down to Vodafone owing half the masts they use and not updating anything according to a lad I know who works for them.

Another here on o2 and literally impossible to get online once i'm in the ground. I go with family & friends and literally every single one of them can get online in the ground, yet i'm the only one on o2 and can't. Annoying, especially when wanting to check the other scores while Halliday and Platt exchange 78 passes!
