Possibly opens up a way back into the match day squad for Young.

We have Eisa, Banks, Pereira, and Chapman who can all play wide.

In respect of forwards we have Walker returning, Derbyshire who we have just signed, Young who???? And Angol who is injured in addition to Oliver and Cook.

In midfield we have Osadebe who may just play a part. Not sure if he has played on the wing?

I’m surprised at this comment. Every time I’ve seen Eisa he has impressed me.
He’s direct, not scared to shoot or run at people but also works hard off the ball.
Not saying he’s a natural replacement for Wright, but I’ve liked what I’ve seen far.
Do believe we need another option to replace Wright tho and someone who ideally has that pace and direct style

Quality player Tyreik, and a great move for him.

I had no idea Plymouth were so far clear at the top of League One.

It's a blow for us, but sometimes you have to accept these things. Good luck to the lad, was a cut above.

This s hugely disappointing news but also not surprising. Equally it’s no different to what happened with Kelleher. Good luck to TW. We have a bit of time here. Rochdale next who we “should” beat anyway and I think Elisa is starting to come good so could be a ready replacement. As has been said let’s hope Derbyshire can hit the ground running. Still expecting a few more ins and outs this window where hopefully the whole squad ends stronger. Good Northampton result for us too yesterday

All these alternatives being proposed aren’t playing because they haven’t shown consistency to merit a place. So why all of a sudden should they be a “slot-in”? Make do and mend springs to mind?

Possibly but when Wright was brought in, Hughes said that it was specifically to add outright pace to our attacking line up so I suspect that we'll be looking to bring a replacement in.

Disappointing to lose him especially with us trying to sign him full time but even assuming that PPerierais going too we are well stocked for wide players in this new formation. Personally i think if young can get himself back into Hughes's squad he could be the one to get that new role Wright has been playing.

We might be stocked with wide players but this season none of them have been good enough barring the player we are losing.

To replace our player of the season so far with the rubbish we have behind is going to be difficult.

All about opinions I suppose. He's showed flashes, but nowhere near the quality or consistency that Wright has.

Omit the word rubbish and I’d agree wholeheartedly. “Unsuitable replacements” is more apt , otherwise yes we need better.

    Agree.

Although it would be interesting to see Chapman playing wider and Walker in the middle.

Absolutely. We don't have much pace in the side. We need to bring in a replacement that gives us what Wright did. It's a big blow, losing him.

Agree with that - I think he is probably the best of the rest from what I’ve seen.
I do think we need to actively look to replace Wright - we need that same standard or better to come out of the transfer window stronger.

    Really bad timing is this.
Firstly as Wright has been one of our most effective suppliers of chances and goals recently.
Second Is that Banks is still out who for me would be the obvious replacement within the formation the way it is now, relying on a pacy player buzzing around Oliver up top.
I'm not sure Eisa will be what we need, maybe Walker, like last season playing off Angol is gonna be our goal threat going forward??
    Who knows??
I don't see us getting anyone else in to replace Wright as a like for like.

Wright has 4 goals in 16 appearances, Young 4 in 10 appearances. Not sure why there is reluctance for one of our own players to be given a chance to show what he can do, now that an opportunity seems to have presented itself.
Also, I'm not suggesting he should be a 'slot in' as you call it, but does he deserve a place on the bench? I think so.

I'm guessing (or perhaps hoping) that this won't have come out of the blue, and that we would have been informed by villa of the potential move. If that's the case, we may be already a few days in to the search for a replacement

Its not just goals, Wright helps us get up the pitch and provides service to the forwards. I like Young and at his best, he offers as much as Wright - but he's less consistent and had a couple of stinkers. Seems like there may be question marks over attitude as well? Maybe it's an opportunity for him, but I just think wr have such a great opportunity that if ever we should go thar extra mile for a couple of quality players, nows the time. If the diamond formation is here to stay, then maybe its a case of bringing in a more central striker than a winger. Unless Derbyshire is seen as the replacement for Wright - but I can't imagine he'll give us the same pace that Wright does.
