He's played as a lone striker for the majority of those 77 games and still out scored probably every striker we've had in the last 20 years.

How on earth do you then just offer up the opinion that unless he's playing in a two he's suddenly now redundant?

I'm offering facts here to back up my thoughts too btw, not knee jerk nonsense after a few poor team performances. Those facts point to him scoring regularly even in this system, it really is as simple as that.

I find it hard to understand how anyone can try to justify the dropping of Cook at the moment with those figures, almost a goal every other game.
It would be a brave manager to drop someone with stats like that even after only scoring once in three games with the lack of service both he and Oliver got on Saturday.
When your main striker is going though a lean patch you hope the likes of Oliver Chapman, Banks, Pereira, Wright, and when he gets back Walker chip in, that's the problem not some who has scored 12 in 14 apperances this season.

He not going through a lean patch though, if he was I could understand it.

I do share the thoughts of the system being ineffective at times though and perhaps we need the alternative shape of 2 up top for games but if not, then the 3 behind with Smallwood and Gillead have to really up their output.

As we did when Eoin Doyle couldnt stop scoring at Swindon, though we had very good reason for that. I just want to see Cook & Oliver battering down defences. Together, like Campbell & Hawley.

so your happy with his contribution over the last 3 games ???? And it ain’t a knee jerk reaction it’s either a case of others actually go after teams and actually create thing for him or we keep playing him and hope for a pen here and there .............. you can throw all the stats in the world at me all I can see that over his last 3 games he’s done nothing of note

Here's a question for you. Name the players who's contribution you are happy with over the last 3 games.

Then, when you've probably only 1 or 2 names on that list, including Harry Lewis, maybe you can stop banging on about the man who single handedly has been just about our only real goal threat and think about the other deficiencies around him.

have I not said that ???? I said it’s time for the others to actually step up including the manager but if we are gonna continue to play this way then surly logic says we should go with someone who will win balls who will give there central defenders a rough time because Cook ain’t doing either ................. I hope Saturday was a huge wake up call for Hughes going forward he must realise that the wins have been hiding an obvious issue with us and for a hell of a few games Lewis has kept us in games .............. we are one of the favourites for this league we have a good enough squad it’s time now to actually go after teams and not just little spells .............. we actually do that and Cook will start scoring again ............. just got a feeling little or nothing will change at Salford

Hope he's got a big cabinet goodness knows what other awards he could win if he helped his team mates out when he isn't putting the ball in the back of the net..

Leave Cook alone. Let’s resort to more traditional scapegoats Gilly, the fullbacks or ROD (conceding an average of 1.5 goals a game)

Mills and Blake for me. By far the best pairing we have had in living memory. A mere 42 goals between them in 1998/99, one of the best seasons for the club, at a higher level, in living memory.
Wells and Hanson got 41 in 2012/13, but in League Two

Mills and Blake are the best and it's no competition without sentiment.

They'll certainly live long in the memory for those lucky enough to see them.

Blake is still the most talented footballer I've seen at VP in my 30 years of watching them. Flawless technique!
