Your right RT. I guess I'm thinking backwards and should think to the future. I guess wanting " levels of comfort " comes at a cost, potentially from the playing squad?

Stockport and Swindon bought theirs this summer too, both also had a lease until 2028.

Hartlepool and Oxford can't afford the rates their private owners want past their leases expiry, also in 2028 and are in active talks with their councils for new grounds.

Us, Barnsley and Orient also have leases expiring in 2028 with no public plans on their intentions. They were the only L2 lease situations I could find with any details. Left behind? Possibly, or we might just not be ready to announce our intentions.

I think most of us do but NOT at Odsal, however we all realise WE couldn’t afford one, neither can Rugby League….even less so in spades!

The building of a new stadium at Odsal gives us a massive bargaining tool when it comes to our VP future.
As 2028 approaches and assuming the stadium is finally built we will hold all the cards.

We could ask for lower rent or even make a purchase offer to Gibb.
If both are rejected, we leave to play at Odsal and Gibb ends up with a big problemo. He’ll be shitting himself right now.

Yeah, the multi millionaire Gibb will be shitting himself at the thought of negotiating terms with Bradford City when their only bargaining token is a non existent new stadium. He knows we won't leave VP and he holds ALL the cards. Thats why he's a successful and very rich businessman.

It really doesn’t matter what their average crowd is.

You do understand our average crowd is fake don’t you due to our price point.

Don’t be a pedant. Ok it’s not his property but he’s responsible for ensuring the VP cash cow keeps paying into the pension fund.
So yes I think he’ll be worried that will stop and he’ll be left with a rotting stadium on worthless land.

I think it is the pension fund of the employee's of Flamingo land , that owns the ground. The trustee's have a legal duty to maximise profits. I don't think they will want to be left with an empty stadium , potentially costing millions to clear and the land worth very little
I think when the time comes they will be reasonable, why kill the goose that is laying the £9000 per week golden egg.

As a whole VP is not a dump, but my god some parts of it are a mess.

Not content with just feathers and bird muck, we had to contend with half a pigeon near the top of the stairwell in the top tier of the main stand on Saturday.

It's just crumbling at the seems unfortunately, and sparks said only last week that refurbs were on hold due to the budget having to be diverted onto other running costs such as gas/elec etc.

It appears sponsors have donated funds for some schemes, like the seats in the lower Dallas which have yet to have an arse on them by the way however local goodwill will only go so far.

Why not support a shiny new stadium
I don't think we'd be contributing much towards it in all honesty

It’s non existent at the moment but the minute he sees the bulldozers move in he’ll be worried.
I think Gibb might actually believe the same as you that VP is forever.
Let’s see what happens when Rupp gives notice on the lease.

The supporters could have started a Valley parade fund . £1 per week from 10000 fans is £520,000 + interest per annum.
If we had started 10 years ago we would be nearing £6 million, ample to buy the stadium.
The fans would then be the clubs landlord and those that invested get a discount against season tickets etc.

If VP and the income it produces for the pension fund means so little to Gibb then why wouldn’t he reduce the rent?
Because he has a duty to ensure maximum income to the fund and any threat to that income drying up will of course or at least it should concern him.
    Don’t be naive

Only time you will see bulldozers at Odsal is when they are filling it in.

One of the council's feasibility study's a few years back , showed landfill would raise in excess of £10 million. Probably double that now. Go on ,you know it makes sense. sense Bradford council !!!

You might be right but I’m talking about if the stadium DOES get built and what doors that opens to negotiating a better lease at VP or a viable purchase price.
