This league is easy you just need the basics of pace and width but with Angol nd Oliver up front we have neither along with Giillead who is lucky to be a pro footballer

 

It’s a continuation of the last few years with injuries. I know it’s a bit different this time with a broken leg and a knee injury which are not soft tissue but they just keep coming.
If Walker is out for the full two months then it’s a devestating blow

Not really, for me it's excessive drinking and not managing my diabetes properly.

I'm on day five. Knocked me sideways for two days, but its improved today. First dose as well.

That was far from good enough. In both games so far we have been ponderous on the ball and we are lacking movement in midfield and are lacking width.

It took for them to score for us to get out of 2nd gear. Cook and young need to start next week and the rest need a rocket up their arse. Utterly frustrating that we sit off players its league 2 not the prem we need to get tight to the player and stop them playing and that's down to desire alone.

Having said all that Its still early days for this squad I remember Sheff utd had an awful start when they went up so let's hope it's just a slow start ad we'll build on it but we have to show more urgency and be braver.

Currently our defence and forwards are not good enough. Vast improvement is needed or my 10th place finish the season will happen.

The thing is the way we play is pass pass pass. Making the ball do the work plenty of possession but little effectiveness

 

I feel a bit sorry for Oliver in the first two games. The set has from kick off has pretty much killed any service to the front men who are feeding off scraps.

 

We seriously need to think if we have the players to play that game.

Sutton has come on twice now and looked shite.

Our forwards seem more like they would benefit for crosses but our full backs are shite.

Difficult to know what to think after today. What is for sure is that just about everything that could go wrong so far has done. But it's very early days and our eventual position won't be decided by bad luck.
Regarding the team, Oliver and Angol were just like last week, miles off the pace. Cook and Young were far superior. Chapman had some good spells but I don't know what his best position is supposed to be.
In midfield I thought Smallwood had a poor game and lacked the enthusiasm shown by the Barrow players. East was busy but ineffective and Gilliead his usual completely ineffective self. Who was supposed to be playing in Walker's position? The defence played well for much of the game but then fell to pieces. Halliday was bright in both attack and defence in the first half but then faded. Ridehalgh anonymous, especially in attack. Crichlow ok but seems vulnerable in the air and Platt isn't the dominating presence I hoped he would be. Lewis, apart from one Pickford moment, was fine and couldn't be faulted for the goals.
Generally, we were pretty clueless going forward and the midfield and defence faded badly.
I said some time ago that my only concern about Hughes was his lack of experience at league 2 level. I hope he adapts quickly.
