Do you write for the daily mail because if not you should with that load of nonesense?

High inward investment? where do you get that one from? its actually the opposite as FDI (which is what you are referring to) has dropped.
Unemployment is at the same levels pre-brexit though we have a lack of fulfilled jobs due to the exodus of people from the EU and reticent leavers dont want brown people to replace them.

Whilst some people gave warnings which you are picking and choosing carefully. On the opposite side we had brexiteers saying things like.

350million per week for the NHS - where is that?
no queues at dover - remember last week? and quite a few times prior to that.
no border down the irish sea - we are breaking international law because one exists
sunlit uplands - when in fact despite covid and war in ukraine we are lagging behind the rest of the eu
We can control our borders - massive rise in over the channel crossings, queues at dover, irish sea
frictionless trade with the eu - completely the opposite, 14% lower trade with the EU
workers rights would be protected - another lie

All in all so far brexit has diminished and shrunk our economy. Our borders are uncontrolled. We screwed over our fishermen. We screwed over our farmers i.e. deals with australia and NZ. Workers rights are being reduced. Human rights laws are being rewritten. And the only major economy to be worse off than ours is Russia.

As I say, you should apply for a job at the DM.

So what? Read it, then try to explain why all the things it's saying are incorrect.

    John Harris :

He applied to study Modern History at Keble College Oxford, but was rejected, and claimed his membership of left-wing organisations had not won him many favours with such a traditional and conservative college.
I wonder which way he voted in the referendum vote.

Immigration is self fulfilling. The more you have the more you will need to service it, It is a never ending circle unless broken by the state

Again, so what. He's not going to be a member of the British Movement if he's writing in the Guardian, is he?

But the facts that he is reporting are still facts:
    Labour shortages
    Import and export problems
    Inflation
    Lowest economic growth in Europe
    Border queues
Negative impact on universities and research

All of these things either caused or made much worse by Brexit.

It doesn't matter where these things are reported or by whom - they are still true. Of course you won't read about many of them in the Daily Mail because they don't want to admit that Brexit is devastating our economy.

Did you expect things to change immediately never mind the 24 moths of Covid then the Putin debacle, you and others were always quick to tell us deals outside the EU would take years to conclude.

Since that weekend when schools broke up and the French didn't man up their customs positions we’ve heard little with regards those problems again at the Port of Dover.

You can blame the French all you like, but Brexit is what has put us in the position of being dependent on French goodwill to make the border work. So much for taking back control. In any case, the queues at Dover were only ever likely to be a serious issue at peak times like Easter and the first school holiday weekend. But those queues are the least of our worries.

The bureaucracy that is making it massively difficult to import and export goods isn't going away. It's actually going to get worse because we haven't fully implemented all the customs changes yet. And if Truss provokes a full blown trade war by tearing up the N.I. protocol that Johnson signed in bad faith then the situation will get very bad indeed.
Likewise the staff shortages. Once EU nationals get used to going to other countries for short term work they won't come back, because of all the visa/work permit hassles.

I agree that it's early days. But looking at the next few years, there's nothing likely to improve. Cut & paste trade deals with countries thousands of miles away won't rescue us from this hole we've dug ourselves.

Boris said he wanted a high skill high paid workforce. The law of supply and demand means that you have to end unlimited immigration from the EU to make that work. The transition will be awkward but worth it if it raises the standard of living instead of depressing it as EU immigration rules did

well this is straight from the hourses mouth

60 - 90 minutes to get on a ferry. Wasnt that bad before brexit.

Also you keep banging on about covid but the govt went ahead with brexit in the middle of a pandemic they could have delayed. So covid is no excuse as we knew what we were getting ourselves into.

Its funny how stupid you sound when you keep on defending stuff thats blatantly in your face.

To have a high skilled high wage workforce you need low skilled low wage jobs to be filled by immigrants. Who else is going to be a bin man, who picks the fruit, or wipes the arses of you elderly brexiteers?

Again its simple economics but you seem to live in a different world where other rules apply.

Your post is wrong and flawed. There is no reason the workers you mention cannot be trained better and given the respect of a decent wage and better standard of living.

I'm posting what we were told with regards the French not manning up their custom posts until later in the day, so yes the French can take part of the blame for the other Friday, has that continued no it hasn't I believe the Port of Dover always has problems with regards that particular Friday.
