Not been. Same spot as the former Design House I think? What a bizarre-then-good place that was.

I went the other week. Menu is poor. Can understand why it’s not in Leeds or opening one there.

    Food was decent though.

Menu was poor but the food was decent. What does that even mean. The menu gives you a choice of things to eat, one of which you choose and if you enjoy it...job done. You do come out with some bollocks.

I'm guessing that what @Fordy117@Fordy117 means is that the choice of dishes is not extensive. But that's what you get in small scale fine dining places - a limited choice of high quality food. They don't have enough covers/tables to offer a wide range of dishes - they'd have too much waste food.

What it means is what I wrote.

The menu is extremely limited and for that reason I wouldn’t recommend going. Yes, the food served was decent but I want more choice. That simple really.

When you spending nearly £50 per head I want a menu that gives me more options.

I'll be honest I went to the Waterside following recommendations on here and was just a little disappointed. Couldn't fault the food, it was excellent, and enough choice for us, but the place was just a but scruffy and untidy, especially the bar area.
Going to Brontaes in Horsforth for the first time tomorrow. Have you tried it yet @Fordy117@Fordy117 - I believe it's in your neck of the woods

Noble Comb's not far away...loads of choice there, it'll save you a bob or two as well

To use it as a criticism is silly though. If you book a table at a small restaurant cooking fresh dishes you know you're not going to get massive choice. I'm sure he had a look at the menu online first so it's just another fordy negative pulled out of something that's a positive

Nah to be honest I went on the feedback on here. Drove from Leeds to Bradford as I think someone posted it should be Leeds. Thought ok then let’s check this place out.

Went and the menu was dire, it was small. Nice night and wasn’t even offered a seat outside. Inside yeah, people looked like they had money but the place looked liked it was dated.

As, I say the food wasn’t bad but the limited menu was a problem for me considering I was paying around £50 per head.

I'm sure they'd have given you a table outside if you'd have asked. I've eaten outside several times.

You know the internet? You could have avoided being confronted with a "dire" menu quite easily by just checking. Anyroad I thought you of all people would appreciate small and compact, especially if you had company

The menu was dire for a fine dinning restaurant. It just highlighted limitations.

Give me a small menu of stuff that can be made fresh to order over a massive list of gear that's coming out of the freezer any day of the week.

It's one guy in the kitchen at the Waterside, occasionally with a sous chef. Needs must.

Have been lucky enough to visit a few good Food Halls recently. It made me wonder what Darley St Market will be like when completed.

Unrealistic, I know, to expect it to be like those in Milan or Lisbon, but I'd hope it at least aspires to be like Mackie Mayor in Manchester which is bright and buzzy.

I hope the planners have done their homework.

Right, Visited Brontaes in Horsforth on Saturday night. I have to say that if anything the menu was smaller than the Waterside! Like yourself however, I would much rather a restaurant does a few things very well than have a massive menu where you know it can't possibly be all fresh.

I'll be honest after the plethora of accolades and 5 star reviews I was a bit underwhelmed. There was nothing wrong with anything, just wasn't as good as I was expecting in all regards. All my courses were too sweet for my taste...maybe I could have chosen better. They make a big point of the "theatre" of the open kitchen, to the extent that a couple of tables had all seats facing the kitchen. We were able to witness the chef scraping my wife's seabass from the bottom of the pan! (actually when it arrived it was the star of the show - fantastic). Latest seating time is 7pm and at 8.30, while still eating, we were treated to the spectacle of them cleaning down the kitchen. Some other little things not quite right for me either. It's not quite there yet
