    get the ooni 16 gas much better than the 12

    wood pellets are too much messing and you dont get the smoke flavour

    Also you can buy the dough from ooni and freeze it , just defrost in the morning ... saves hassle

    theres loadsa tips on the net but semolina flour is a must to stop the dough sticking to everything ... piece of piss once you get going

    Ventured to The Waterside in Shipley yesterday for their 5 course tasting menu. OH is usually wary of tasting menus as he reckons portion sizes are too small and you taste something you like and it has gone in an instant. We once went to L'Enclume in Cartmel for someone's special birthday celebration and he and another friend reckoned they could have eaten fish and chips after the 10 courses were finished.
    Anyway, not so at the Waterside. We had a deep fried king prawn appetiser. First course was a blue cheese and walnut souffle with salad. This was a wonderful light dish full of flavour and the salad dressing superb. The fish course was coley fillet with romanesco. The meat course was beef cooked two ways with confit potatoes, leeks and a lovely sauce. The beef was a medium rare fillet and a slow cooked ox cheek that was lovely.
    Pudding was a fruit tart, with strawberry, blackberry and raspberry on pistachio cream with a beautiful thin pastry.
    An excellent meal for a special occasion.

    I'm inclined to agree with your other half about tasting menus. I've had a number that have left me less than full and/or underwhelmed by several dishes but wanting more of the good ones. The Box Tree and the Yorke Arms being particularly underwhelming for the money.
    The exceptions I've found have been the Moorcock Inn tasting menu (sadly no longer a thing) and the Waterside - decent portions and consistently good courses.

    Whenever we are down for a match we have a Saturday evening meal at the Waterside, never been disappointed.

    I see this restaurant Lala on Bradford Road, has won best Asian restaurant in the north. Anyone eaten there? I looked at the menu, and it looks a bit all over the place. Seems to get good reviews though…as well as rewards.

    Small chain I think? There was one up Gt Horton Rd for a while. Excellent slow-cooked lamb.

    Dunno the state of play now though.

    To be honest I didn't realise it had actually opened. I know it was due to open and then next thing I know it was closed/delayed due to Covid

    It is in the old Linley and Simpson Estate agents shop a few doors down from The Terrace. I believe the owner used to sell pizzas at the Tambourine cafe almost opposite.
