Agreed. These are obviously players Hughes wants to sign (albeit maybe within budget constraints) and not last minute deadline day panic buys

 

Theres a plan Kev, as we know not all plans come to fruition, Hughes included in his management career. But a manager of Hughes calibre has to be respected, and as such I will for now trust in what he sees fit to bring to the club.

 

It is light years more organised and professional than it was 12 months ago.

 

That's good to hear Rog-we all need to be pulling in the right direction. All these negative Nellies can do one.

 

Don't think there is much negativity K, most of us are in the wait and see camp but also optimistic. Mark clearly wants legs, mobility and enthusiasm and has been working to bring in the players early and not wait for other clubs to sign them. Obviously, he will need some experience to temper and balance and I am sure he is working on that. I look forward to not having to rely on the likes of Robinson, Lavery, Elliot and the guy we borrowed from Bolton to come off the bench and change the game.

 

Hopefully the ship has been turned around after years of heading toward the iceberg. What we saw at the end of the season gave a clue as to how Hughes wants his team to play and I expect the signings are being signed with this is mind.

 

Agree with 'pulling in the right direction' Keefly but if one questions a signing(s), yet happy with other signings, does that define one as negative?

If you are questioning a signing before they have donned a city shirt then thats that is definitely a negative.

 

Imagine Watt goes, as highlighted by Parker. City finished 14th last season.14th.

Would, If, East becomes his replacement have you question his replacement? 467 minutes, 5 professional games of 45 minutes or more at 23. No goals, no assist.

So is that negative?

 

Is that comparable to Watty’s record of 5 goals , many many yellow cards , sendings off etc.in 78 games .
Both are irrelevant comparisons Dave, but for the sake of balance , worthwhile to mention perhaps?

Comparisons don’t work unless we see both players play at VP. One we have seen , one we haven’t.

I prefer to keep my powder dry until I have seen him play. That’s not being negative surely?

 

Imagine the goals and assist for Walker instead of Cooke. It’s about what the whole squad will look like when team building is finished. I hope Watt stays but when he arrived he had played 12 league games and scored 1 goal. So I would say he was about experienced as East is now.

 

Cooke would have had a lot more assists if we'd had decent goal scorers around him. Wasn't a scorer himself but did have the ability to set up.

 

I agree but Walker is a better player and a great signing in my opinion.

 

Kev, evening. I'm questioning the signing. Both of us don't know the ultimate outcome.

Maybe, I'm **poorly ** trying to be objective in a signing.

But I saw all this pretense last pre season. And the one before.

 

Walker, East, Gilliead, Songo’o, Ridehalgh... Half a squad (with many assumption)... How many goals and assists?

 

I think he's a good player but a different type of player. Walker will get more goals but Cooke offers more on the assist front. Walker seems to fit more into Hughes way of thinking.

 

East Gillead in the role he was playing for Hughes Songo’o Ridehalgh are all defenders or defensive midfielders Walker Eisa and Vernam if he stays provide and score goals. There will be dud signings amongst there always is but let’s hope the obvious scouting that has gone on has been competent
