Who's next manager

There are a lot of ITK's on social media that blatantly aren't ITK's, they're just people making their best guess.

The same guy that was bigging up Kidderminster manager Russell Penn (now on the list...), also said Cannovaro had all but signed his contract as Everton manager... a few days before they installed Lampard.

That particular account obviously enjoys finding left field candidates and backing them, JUST IN CASE, then they look REALLY 'in the know'.

But it's probably just someone who works at the bookies generating money.

he did well as caretaker at a complete basket case at the time which was Oldham. You don't get many chances to manage a team like Bradford (well every 6 months but ignore that fact)

 

I was never confused

 

A lot to talk on Steve Evans and @borderlescott has it right on the player turnover front. If sparks is listening to Mcanthony and we have no director of football or head of recruitment to filter the signings, we will end up with 10-12 signings per window never mind season.
His best results were ten years ago and he’s not very good any more. And that’s before we look at his sketchy off the field behaviour.
If we wanted someone in to put some points on the board quickly maybe short term he could be an option but otherwise no chance longer term. Luckily this doesn’t need to be an immediate appointment.

It has to be grant McCann for me if we are listening to Mcanthony (he seems to have Sparks’ ear). Still young at 41 so will want to impress and isn’t coming for one last pay day. Plays good football. Has a recent championship winning side on his CV at hull and that’s despite a relegation the previous season which all we hear is it’s tough to come back from. He did it at a canter the first time of asking. He promotes youth to the first team. Even managed a difficult club with a dodgy owner like he did at Hull
I can’t see many drawbacks if we can persuade him to come to this level

Oh, I think he's good enough, that's not the issue, but he's not a set of statistics on a database like Football Manager.

Too many red flags for me.

He did so well at Oldham that it makes no sense that he left, UNTIL you factor in that he didn't enjoy the experience and it all became too much for him. I wouldn't want to subject the man to a vile and nasty Valley Parade atmosphere, I think he'd quit the game altogether.

he got ditched for Scholes, and when Scholes got bored he helped them out again until the Oldham owners started being funny again, but I do get your point. He won't get it easy here. As much as I want a fresh faced young manager I'm not sure where we are is ideal.

 

Yeah, heard him say that yesterday and thought it seemed ridiculously high, so assumed I'd misunderstood and he meant 3 individual figures!

 

Steve Evans is so wide he counts as 80 candidates himself

I’ve outlined why I’d take McCann but he’d be my second choice if McCann wont come to us.

My main drawbacks with Wild are he hasn’t really managed at this level or above successfully. Doesn’t always mean success granted but McCann has that experience. Can Wild cope with the pressure of City? We are not happy jusy ticking along selling players and rightly so. There does need to be an aim of promotion at some stage and the right to compete at mid to higher league one. We’ve proving we can do it within the last 5 years so that’s the first aim for me. Can Wild manage that high up? Who knows yet.

 

Wild has done very well at Halifax but from what others are suggesting from his interviews, he thrives in that low pressure environment, rather than working with big expectations.

I don’t think he’s the right fit for an underachieving club like us.

Could easily see him getting a club like Morecambe and Cambridge up from L2 as they managed last season, where there’s no expectation, as he’s clearly talented.

Wouldn't want to take a gamble on Wild mate. McCann for me followed by Woodgate or Johnson (perhaps)
Warnock?? Now that would be very interesting!!

 

Why is it gamble - more than others, Grayson, Hopkins, Bowyer and Adams all were experienced. It a good job someone took a chance with Chris Wilder who did well in NL and he ended up in the premiership with the Blades.
