Are you an ex-employee of the club by any chance, never heard as much anti Edin/Stefan spin in my life.

 

Using that argument over the years we have signed some right duffers for all positions from the UK does that mean we don’t sign anybody else

Lol, no I am not an employee of the club.

There, no defensive attitude at all. So what points exactly do you disagree with? You keep blocking all discussion with ad hominem attacks which as well as being a logical fallacy does nothing for the debate.

 

To sum up the arguments or disagreement on here is a few things that were definatly said in the first year of R&R taking over.

Edin & Rupp did say there was a 3 year plan to get to the championship so this coming season is that 3rd year. Will that be achieved who knows but if isn't do the club have to 'rethink their approach and change their ideas to longer term plans and would that mean ploughing money in they didn't expect or want to do at this level.

Develpoment squad was top of the list and yes I get and understand the reasons it's a great idea but only if the players we bring in generate incoming if sell them. The talk of £300k plus is a large chunk of anybody's money especially as it comes from the 1st team budget however if we do sell one of one lads for a tidy sum the whole process will be a success however if we don't sell anybody from that group is it money well spent or will spend more of the budget and going down that route. This now brings me to another point which was said.

There was a plan for the club to sustain itself now in theory that works but only if you have outgoings out weighing the incomings does anyone really believe that is possible outside the premiership because I don't not unless you don't want to be a success on the pitch too. It's ok to spend fees on players and if the players are paid a more basic wage with higher bonus incentives that's fine but there may become a time if we aren't successful where it really matters on the pitch where players will become disheartened. Would anybody go to work with lower basic wage but higher bonus or prefer a guaranteed income I would say nearly all would choose the latter.

I do hope R&R do get it right and I will gladly eat a bit of humble pie but at the moment I am not to convinced with their approach I think they are changing things too much too soon.

The 'plan' can work in the lower leagues, Ricky - It just takes a damn sight longer, and doesn't return the high divis of the PL.

Barnsley demonstrated with some cash investment, you can develop potential 'gems' - and had they maintained that, I'm sure they would still be in the Championship.

Of course we are all fans, the difference is some don't always follow like sheep and believe everything that comes out of the club.

 

And others look purposely for fault in absolutely every single decision.

I'm realy looking forward to getting promotion this coming season, when we join the teams in the Champioship next season you can remind me what a great job our new owners are doing and they have been true to their word and got us promoted to the Championshio within the time span they quoted, can't wait for you and others to remind me :thumbsup:.

 

To be fair to you, @Bronco and all other posters - I try to avoid the 'argument' word (debate is more appealing ), but I try to see and understand an 'Opinion'. I know that sits hard with some - but it certainly helps my own blood pressure stay on an even keel, whilst enjoying the Forum for what it is.

 

'true to their word' - there you go, you took it as gospel. I don't remember them promising at all - they stated an ambition and something they were working towards - a plan, not a promise.

This is why some folk shouldn't be allowed to use social media.

 

I tell you what I find amazing is some people take one sentence that suits their argument and cling to it for dear life. And ignore everything else said before and after

 

There you have it HAD maintained it so goes to show it's a struggle to do so and that's why I believe unless you get to the dizzy heights of the premiership it isn't possible.
