That depends on who is available, interested and realistic doesn’t it? And unless you are privy to conversations between club and player/agent at over 100 clubs in England, Wales and Scotland then how is anyone able to answer that question?

Given its mid season, we’re lower mid table in division four and owned by Stefan Rupp, we’re not shopping for the contracted players who are doing well at league one and two clubs, it’s back ups and non league players which means most signings are going to need a check of soccer base.

I've watched a bit of Darlo this season and Charman has been decent, not lightening quick but not slow either, can actually finish. The problem is, he was good in Newcastle United's under 23's, went on loan to Accrington, but didn't get a single game there and gone to National League North and looked very good in a very ordinary Darlo side this season. So it's hard to say how he'd fare in the football league. However having a predigree of being at Newcastle could serve him well. I'm guessing people are thinking Ross Hannah or Danny Rowe. The thing for me is Hannah never started as high up as Newcastle, nor regularly played in an under 23's squad, so a less professional background. Rowe was late in his 30's and lacked a professional discipline to really want to play in the league. Charman is 24, probably needs to make the right move now at that age. Added to that he's not over performing like the other two were and has let's say a I'm better than who I'm joining attitude. There's probably still a lot there for him to improve upon. An added bonus is the north east contingent of players in the team, that will probably help him bed in and spur him on. Who knows...

A player at Darlo I'd love us to have a look at is winger Kevin Dos Santos, he's young and been brought over from Portugal. Very much the Mark Marshall/Medes gomes type of player, fast, tricky, doesn't give up. If the rumour about Charman is true, then I hope our scouts have seen Dos Santos as well. If anyone wants to have a look, just YouTube recent Darlington games and look for number 19.

Looks very lively, 4 yellows and 2 straight reds so far this season both for 'serious foul play' in the match reports hopefully isn't going to be much to worry about. Suspended until after Jan 8th at the minute for Darlo.

10 goals from 12 starts in NLN in his first real run at "mens" football. Including his record at all clubs and youth levels for Newcastle, he's score 80 in 81 apps. Out of contract too in the summer, hopefully wouldn't cost too much.
