Ok to clarify, I wasn’t suggesting we can get him back now, I was more thinking next summer but obviously if he’s under contract then how about the summer after. By that time we could/should be in league 1 and he could be the man we need to get us over the line into the Championship.

it's just sense of toxic entitlement, a sizeable section of fans are adamant we need to win every single game and piss the league. Don't see fulham fans losing their heads after losing to Reading. This time last season pretty sure we were 15th so either way an improvement. I will be very very shocked if we don't at least get in the play offs this year!

I'll be honest, I'm sick and tired of the same old mantra of big club at this level trotted out by all and sundry yet apparently it's wrong to expect us to be on of the automatic choices. I understand in football nothing is guaranteed, we've only been promoted automatically in our history a handful of times. I guess the big club tag just grates on me. Truth is we are no better than the majority of this division, big crowds mean nothing without backing the manager accordingly.

It's just the booing and toys out the pram things that says we're entitled buggers going in a bad run at this stage means naff all but the reaction was bordering on hysteria because we had to beat Barrow which was an assumption based on nothing

 

Yes and no, I didn’t mean we shouldn’t be optimistic or even have high expectations (i have bet on us being promoted.) its just when either
1) a bad run of form
2) a result doesn’t go our way

people just lose their minds!! We are only eight games in. Barrow was a bit unfortunate but I'm not really sure about booing the team. People don’t realise away teams use it to their advantage!

The booing was strange. There was a little against Walsall, probably more frustration than anything else. Against Barrow it was more noticeable, again frustration, I'm guessing over our inability to yet again take chances and also against what is perceived to be inaction to bring a goal scorer to the club in transfer window. Agree though, the booing achieves nothing at this stage of the season.

 

Turnbull's Jan window acquisitions have clearly not made Adams happy in any way. He's dealing now with what he's been given. Hence, get rid of Turnbull. I would prefer a very experienced manager like Adams to be currently in charge of who we recruit.

 

But this is SO not true in the lower leagues! Darlington for starters. Add as many others as you wish to research.

It's wonderful throwing money at football but it doesn't always work in the lower leagues. Look at Glenn Tamplin at Billericary Town - threw fortunes into the club. He's left. They're still in the same non-league division. Why Sparkes took on Adams is because our manager is much more 'moneyball'. Do the detailed research, bring in players who've been overlooked or not 'played' properly for cheaper, build them up and create a squad. Against all the odds, he did this brilliantly at Morecambe - got promoted after starting the season equal Odds Checker favourites to get relegated. I think Adams is still an important January window away from getting that right for us this season, but I wouldn't worry just yet. If we're in and around the top six come New Year, I'd have us for promotion.

 

Yes I agree, Rogered. I don't like us booing our players and staff - it really doesn't help. Ask any player at this level - it just makes them go more into their shells if they're being slagged off. But I'm guessing because it's been so long since being able to watch our City, it has heaped expectation upon expectation. The truth is, League Two is an attritional war zone full of big bastards and 'athletes', and it'll be a long, long season for us. Let's get used to it - and out of it!
