Completely agree. A significant difference I can foresee about what Adams did last year and what he can do this is the element of surprise. Nobody fancied Morecambe last season, but because of the size of City's crowds, they're considered a big club in this league who are perennially expected to do well. When you add Sparks talking up the chances of promotion in pre-season [inflating a lot of people's hopes] then anything less than probably a play off place isn't going to go down well.

I thought last season's squad was as weak as I've seen for a long time and it was always going to be a big ask to form a consistently performing and promotion challenging squad over a single summer. I think City's first 11 is a decent match for anyone in this division, but the rigours of lower league football makes the strength in depth just as important and the squad's probably not quite there yet.

Let's hope so. Having read this thread it seems apart from his time at Port Vale he has done ok

Please get a grip yourself and look àt the stats properly

    ie. his 2019/20 season

I wonder if Swindon supporters similarly moaned about signing Doyle, given his poor form with us at the time

Well about half on here have spent most of the last decade telling us every striker, we had, was crap, clearly they must know who's good

Have you looked at the stats for his 2019/20? Some on here thought Swindon were nuts, for taking Doyle

Some very good creative accounting going on there. Lee Mills was almost 1 in 2 for us whilst Hanson was almost double that.

Including anything else is misleading as your original post talks about "one of OUR best ever forwards".

And this is after receiving all that money for McBurnie.

Yet when questioned people like @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler still insist he's actually still putting money in?

I think we should wait until we have seen how he is played in the team before deciding how good this signing is/isn't.

Angol was very much an unknown for most and now look how we miss his contribution to the team play.

Career averages of the two compare favourably. Between leaving Oxford and rejoining us for his second spell Windass scored 24 goals in 125 matches. Any one can Cherry pick a portion of a career and make it look good or bad.

By today's standard he would have been crucified and labelled as past it and crap.

Amazing isn't it. Angol's signing was greeted by most in very much the same vein as Robinson, underwhelming. Yet, 3 games in, same fans are saying how much we are going to miss Angol.

Let's hope Robinson brings his Colchester form to us rather than his Port Vale form.

It's like a lot of players in the Football League, some fit at certain clubs better than at other clubs, Eoin Doyle the perfect example for us in recent years

We've had some right shite masquerading as strikers over the years.

Nice bit in the T&A quoting Ryan on Theo's commitment. I'm sure we'll all agree it is good to read. Good luck to the lad.

I'm not cherry picking. You said Mills was regarded as one of City's best strikers.

Why does his scoring rate before and after he left City affect that? Simple answer is that it doesn't.

Why would anyone have written Derek Adams off when he went to Morecambe? I get Sparks is trying to big up his new signing but its a poor analogy.

Guessing on the back of going from near promotion to near relegation and people wondering if he had the skills to crack it down south? Just a guess.

Anyone with an ounce of sense would understand there are times when you take whats on offer, especially when there are only a number of the 92 manager jobs available when you become out of work. Better to keep in work and relevant than wait for a job that might never come up.
