Him, Wood and AOC were all on a decent salary, £3-4k a week is a good guess, losing them is how Sparks has cut the wage bill and kept a decent(ish) squad.

He's a good signing and doing well but hardly marquee and we definitely don't want too many repeats of goals like that on Saturday.

 

I think AOC would have remained if he was on less money and we offered him parity. He wasnt resigning on a lesser deal thats for sure. Same with Wood.

 

Hawkins reminded me of another land of the giants centre forward who always did well against us , Stockport’s very own Kevin Francis?

Anyone remember him, a right pain up the arse who always seemed to score at VP. ( Might be a myth but sure felt like it).

He’s very hot headed, you can tell that just by his celebrations and smacking people on the backside let alone his rash fouls. I think he’d be a better player if he slowed everything down a bit and played with more calmness. But it is only his second full season in professional football, which I think sometimes people forget, he’s coming along nicely. Just needs to improve discipline.

 

Get the feeling that unless we lose someone then only a striker will arrive. Gone a bit quiet on the midfielder search.

 

Agree almost a free header, but the cross should have been stopped.

 

And Francis was 6'7" not a myth he was always a problem at our level.

 

Always reminded me of that "Flying Postman" player - John Williams. No idea how he farmed out a career in football, but he's another who in my mind, always seemed to score against us. We've got a few bogie men like that.

 

One of my earliest Kop memories (I'm sure it was him but I might be mistaken) was him warming up as a sub for Oxford and everyone shouting 'FREEEEAAAAKK' at him and chanting the Adams family tune at him!

A static centre half would never beat a 6-6 cforward who runs in to jump for across. You are right we don’t want more like that . A goal clearly we should have not have allowed to develop .

 

I wonder if we'll get 2 in or just a very good number 10.
