There’s a talent in Watt, it’s obvious he’s been developed at a higher quality academy, I just think he lacks the football brain or experience that comes from playing lots of senior football. If a transfer offer came in he can go unless he’s going to stay long term. I’d love to see a successful team built around him, Staunton, FCD, Sikora and Scales that climbs towards the championship. A team of young players mostly local and developed in our own academy playing at the top of league one or the championship, that will do me.

 

Bizarre to state a player isnt proven at a level when they have literally just proven themselves.

Its like saying Watkins and Bamford arent PL proven.

Yeah, it's usually the forwards. I've a mate who plays for a National North side as a midfielder and he's on £500 a week basic.

 

Agree. Leamington FC in the Southern League had Stefan Moore playing for them. Rumours were he was on 1k a week. Ex professional forward who was guaranteed to bag goals at that level, makes sense. He didn't have a second job

 

so do you think that's it with regards to players? Both incoming and outgoing. All gone a bit quiet. Is there some sort of "out of contract" date coming up?

 

Think Adams wants another striker or that's what he's said in a round about way. Other than that I don't think there will be any more in unless some go out.

 

I don't think it was just a US philosopher who said that. I think we ALL thought Akpan was pants.

 

For me, another striker, and maybe another central midfielder. I think we need something different from what Sutton and Watt offered last year. Perhaps Staunton is being earmarked for that role. Either way, would be good to have another experienced midfielder to call on.

 

The only position we have in the squad without truly specialist coverage is right back.

I doubt we'll get one and I doubt we'd be able to attract someone good enough to make a difference so I can't really see us wanting one anyway but that's a hole I'd like us to fill properly within the next 12 months.

 

I think you can still go down the loan signing route but less of a gamble loan signing which the two above were i.e. we loaned Cook, which I thought was a pretty safe guarantee of goals at the time

How many more times......Threlked started his career at right back and was Adams right back during the Plymouth promotion.

How more specialist can you get? Hes a right back. One that Salford fancied as a holding MF.
