What is this obsession with obsessions you've got? I don't have an obsession with lazy recruitment, but when half of our Summer signings are drawn from Scunthorpe (ie, Turnbull's old club) and Morecambe (ie, Adams' old club), it's not exactly indicative of mind blowing amounts of research.

Let's be honest, the two Scunthorpe players were unexpected; all of Adams' signings seem to have been completely expected, leaked weeks in advance in some cases. On that basis, I'd infer that perhaps Angol, Gilliead and Eisa are Turnbull-driven, whereas the others that were telegraphed are Adams-led signings.

But don't go over board in your delirious drive to defend the club against criticism that isn't necessarily even criticism; Adams could go sign the whole Morecambe squad and would look lazy, but it could easily work out well. Manchester City going after Erling Haaland could be described as lazy, as it's just going out and signing the most on-form forward out there rather than unearthing a gem. Would that make it a worse signing?

    Absolutely, categorically, no.

I'm giving every single one a chance, nowhere have I written anyone off, I've just drawn from the available data and made some statements based upon that.

I'm looking forward to the season, and once again I'd like to point out that I said from the beginning I expected mediocre-looking signings that Adams would mould into a capable team, and so far that's pretty much been the case.

No, he played surprisingly well in CAM for about four or five games and rescued us from a real slump.

    His form didn't last long.

I’m probably looking more forward to this season than for a very long time. Most players recruited within a week of preseason starting(Thats a bloody first in my lifetime). A proper fitness team in place, a manager with a great track record of getting something out of bang average squads.

How many times year after year, playing trialists in preseason games have we seen a finalised squad two day before the season starts? Think about this and wonder why we always get off to poor starts?

Adams is the one who's reputation on the line, a very straight forward interview the other day leaving no one in doubt about what he wants and expects.
We haven't kicked a ball and some are questioning him, his CV is better than most at this level ffs give the guy and the players the club have signed a break.

Because the switched him tactically to sit just behind Cook, leaving gaping holes in the middle.?

Getting the lads together early, knowing they're going to be playing together, not sifting through the sh!t pool with a few days to go (or even after the start of the season) makes SO much sense - but goes against the Rhodes play book (which was actually put in place by Richmond in the pre-transfer window era), where you save wages by signing nearer the season.

It's refreshing to see we've done that, it's refreshing to see we've actually targeted the weak areas (how, oh how did we fail to sign a right back or a defensive midfielder last season???), and it's refreshing Adams seems to understand the component parts that will make his tactics work (copyright @bantamdave41@bantamdave41).

I'm not sure I've read a single comment from anyone not called Fordy or RCBantam questioning Adams yet?

    Where have you seen that?

Probably more because he's 37, he's not actually a midfielder, and he's no longer very good?

Two days before the season starts? Last year McCall was still searching for the 'final piece of the jigsaw' in October!

Why are you questioning the post you liked ? which would suggest you originally agreed with ?.

You have to Jon. 3 years ago, we were making top signings that should have made the play offs had they performed as a team. They ended up adrift at the bottom. Virtually all div 2 signings will be uninspiring but if you can get decent players for the level who work hard together, good things are likely to happen(certainly a higher finish than 9th Fordy). We are told every year that Salford sign the stars. They might sign McAleney but just remind me which division they are in.

I agreed it's Adams' reputation on the line (as opposed to Sparks', by the way), but while it's a valid point I'm not sure where you've seen those questions raised?
