All that would happen is the same as the hairdresser that opened, took the council and police a couple of months of warnings etc before finally closing them, but I would expect swifter action if he just opens. He would be better placed to challenge it in court

Cases have gone up but deaths are all low. There are just over 1k in hospital but of those only 150 odd are in a serious way.

If these hospitalised people are vulnerable people who haven't taken the vaccine then that is no reason not to delay June 21st.

I don't for a second believe the 1k people in hospital are young healthy people.

When they do surge testing, which they are doing. I guess they are knocking on doors and taking tests of people in their homes who then are suprised to find out they have Covid.

If that is the case these cases are mild as the people who have them didn't even know they had Covid.

It would be far better to know who has symptoms and are going for tests, rather than fishing for cases, as these people showing symptoms are the ones who are likely to become ill.

If we have 7.5k cases today but 3k have come from surge tests in high rate areas from people not showing any symptoms, then they really aren't cases to worry about. We can't keep being scared of our own shadow.

If we do not move forward now before the flu season we won't before Spring next year.

It isn’t just surge testing either, all the lateral flow testing is people with no symptoms. We gave out around 100 lateral flow tests yesterday for various reasons but obviously none of those were symptom based

Feel like we are now being prepared for no ending of lockdown on June 21st. Everything you see in the news is pointing to some form of extension. The pain

I see the narrative of deaths and hospitalisations follow a rise in cases, and people are now saying deaths in a few weeks will go through the roof. It's as if they have no faith in the vaccine that they have put in their bodies.

99% of all deaths and about 70% of hospitalisation are from the group that are now double jabbed so realistically this is the acid test. So are the government actually scared that the figure will not hold up and we will still see a rise in deaths and hospitalisations?

In other news, Matt Hancock is in front of the health select committee today from 9.30am.

Covid is been used as an excuse. I imagine the nhs was miles behind anyway. Now I don’t doubt covid had practically shut hospitals but it can’t be a reason to stop freedoms when it was already mismanaged before.
take courts for example. Pre covid there was a backlog of around 20000 cases. That doubles with Covid and it will collapse if they shut again for any reason. But we cannot place that blame on covid alone. It was there before and will continue to be an issue once covid goes

I'm starting to think the government has no faith in it's own vaccine. If they keep up under restrictions then we will never find out if the vaccine works as it will be the effects of the lockdown. If we fully open and deaths and hospitalisations rise to an unacceptable level then the vaccine doesn't work as much as they are suggesting. If deaths and hospitalisations rise fractionally then that is an acceptable level of balance.

Good. Our freedoms won’t be given back, they’re going to have to be taken.

It's such a shame that this sort of opposition is coming from within the Tories own ranks. 100% right though.
