All we know for certain is as follows:

1. Derek was interviewed for the BCFC job back in December, which is a strong sign that if something better financially comes along then he’s happy to move on.

2. He hasn’t signed anything with BCFC. He’s got a contract with us and I believe that no deal would be done before our season was over. The Telegraph & Argus also said as much yesterday, which has worried Bratfud fans (see comments).

3. The players are due in at the club today to discuss terms for next season. A couple of players mentioned this. If Derek is leaving, who does this? It would seem crazy for a manager who is heading to another club to do it and for a new manager to come in to find players already signed who he may not decide he needs.

Basically, there’s a lot to resolve. My optimistic hope is that while there’s more money at BCFC, there’s also a lot more structure around scouting and player recruitment, which Derek may not like. I think we can pay him more but also allow him greater control of the footballing side that would enable him to build something much bigger and on his terms. In my view he needs to be sold a vision that marks us out as very different to other supposedly bigger clubs. That teams like Wigan started small and grew. And that as we grow we become investable and attract ownership interest that enables us to push on further.

A big challenge. I’m not optimistic but I think we’ve got people who can be persuasive.

If he goes, we had a recruitment exercise 18 months ago and we’ll have candidates and a lot of interest. While he would be a big loss we would need to put him behind us quickly and move on.

 

Frankly not interested in what Morecambe fans or newspapers have to say , because they are as clued up as BCAFC fans and the Telegraph & Argus.

Just read this thread. No one knows, outside a tiny select few who the next manager is. Anything else is speculation in Lancashire and Yorkshire.

 

Michael Flynn would be just as good a choice and if Adams is not certain about coming we should approach him before someone else does,

 

Then Flynn comes in and re evaluates the players that the manager we never had decided to let go...bizarre...!!

 

If for any reason Adams does not come then that will be scenario with any new manager yes

Flynn has done well with Newport but I don't agree he'd be just as good a choice. Flynn has come close but so far has not led a team to promotion. Adams has just achieved his fourth promotion and at a club who were second favourites for the drop ante-post. I hope, for Bradford City supporters, that Derek Adams will be announced as the new manager at Valley Parade within the next few days.

 

I agree 100% Adams would be the best choice but my post was on the basis that he decided to stop at Morecambe or accept another offer from another club, He will have a range of options from other clubs after winning another promotion, We will not be the only fish in the pool anymore

 

It is on the face of it but in reality thats not really the case. I reckon the club and 95% of the fans on this site (and generally) would have been in total agreement as to what we needed to do as far back as the January transfer window so the players we eventually released was largely pre-determined. And whoever the new man turns out to be I am certain he would also be in agreement
